I really wish I didn't have to post this. I received an email this evening from Amanda, here it is:

"I went into labour last Thursday evening and Rebecca Alice was born at 825pm. I had to have an emergency caesarian because of my placenta problem. I came home this afternoon.

There will be no birth or death certificate as she didn't live outside of me. Because I was less than 24 weeks it counts as an early miscarriage and not a stillbirth. No record of her life.

I wondered if you could post something on the Feb 06 antental thread for me please. Or start a thread in the antenatal section just to let them know. I probably won't be on mumsnet for a while until I get my head and life back together."

Any messages of condolence will be passed onto her.

Rhubarb, please tell her to get in touch with SANDS, as soon as she feels able. The no birth or dearh certificate thing is so, so hard for those of us whose babies die just before 24 weeks, but SANDS supports women whose baby dies post 20-weeks and she will find sympathetic help there and a total recognition of Rebecca Alice as a stillborn baby, NOT as a "late miscarriage".
The hospital can and should be helping her too. Thanks to excellent campaigning over the years from SANDS, undertakers will organise a funeral for babies like Rebecca with the utmost sensitivity and gentleness, I know because they did this for us. And they don't usually charge either.
Please give her my love too Rhuby and tell her she can CAT me any time if she thinks it would help to talk. I am so very sorry to hear that she has this worst of bereavements to contend with on top of everything else, and my heart goes out to her and dd1. XXX
