the joys of having a cuddly dc - anyone else want to share?

Ds is 21 months and has always been such a lovely snuggly baby. He comes for cuddles so often, loops his arm round my neck and strokes the back of my neck. I am such a lucky mummy, long may it continue...

Shopping, what a lovely thing. My ds is also cuddly (just turned 3) and I love the early morning cuddles dh and I get when ds comes into our bed. Just wish they weren't quite as early...

Although he has recently got very stingy with kisses, particularly for dh. I may be lucky enough to get one with a "yuck!" after it but dh is sd as he isn't even allowed that any more!

Agree though that cuddles voluntarily given or requested are wonderful.

posieflump · 23/01/2008 11:50

Hmmm... both my dc are very cuddly but they have a fit now when the other is being cuddled - they ate 3 and 16 months, so be warned!

susue · 23/01/2008 11:55

Both my ds's were very cuddly babies and toddlers and I always wanted to be close to them. They felt so soft and warm and they have grown into affectionate lads, the eldest is 18 and the youngest 14, and we hug every day and I tell them I love them every day. They kiss us when they are going out for the evening and before they go to bed and I just love it. It's such a natural thing to do, long may it continue,

bambam30 · 23/01/2008 17:27

you are all so right i will admit i love my cuddles and kisse and pray silently that they will always last- that lovely sweet noxious smell of your lo is a perfume no money could buy. my lo is 2.3 and has started to just stop what he is doing and saying love you and i swear nothing compares in life-like one of the previous posters i hope he continues into his teens

Kammy · 23/01/2008 17:46

My ds is now 6 and still comes in for a snuggle every morning and cuddles on my lap. Sometimes he will come into the kitchen saying ' I've got a present for you' then gives me a hug. It is just priceless, the most wonderful feeling in the world.
Yesterday, he brought a note home from school saying Dear Mummy and Daddy, I love you....

I often tell him that I hope he never stops this and he assured me with the gravity of a 6 year old that he would still be kissing me when he was 107, Fingers crossed! And what a lovely thread.

leoleo · 23/01/2008 19:09

Me too. Very lucky. My ds 2.9 says cuddle cuddle and gives the loviest cuddles and recently he wants to hold my hand all the time we are close, sitting together on the sofa, in bed in the mornings, reading..

All posts from mummy's of lovely boys!! (girls lovely too but are boys more cuddly?)

When I pick him from mil's he wraps his little arms around me and gives me a lovely smile and a big kiss.

Horay for our lovely LO's.

notnowbernard · 23/01/2008 19:12

Both dds big cuddlers. It is lovely

MaeWest · 23/01/2008 19:14

DS is 18 months and has just got the hang of cuddling (rather than being cuddled). Little chubby arms flung round my neck as he snuggles in, lovely

deaconblue · 23/01/2008 19:47

hurrah susue, was dreading the day when the cuddles end, so pleased to hear some ds's are still cuddly teenagers, how lovely. So nice to smile at other people's cuddly babes too

susue, that's good to hear, I hope my boys (1 and 4) grow up the same as I will so miss the cuddles. DS1 came into our bed this morning, and whispered to me to turn over so he could cuddle me, so sweet! ds2 just headbutts my legs until I sit down and he can throw himself at me and snuffle my chest.

RGPargy · 23/01/2008 19:54

DD is lovely and cuddly. She's only 7 weeks tho so doesn't have a choice about if she wants to be cuddled or not!!

MaureenMLove · 23/01/2008 20:02

I haven't got my own big cuddler atm, she's 12 and its not cooool! I do, however have lots of mindees to cuddle! I've got one atm, who is 2.5 and he is such a snuggler. He cuddles right into my neck and brings his knees up and puts his hands tight round my neck. He smells so wonderful and his hair smells so sweet, I could eat him. (Not sure that's in the Ofsted remit though! ) I am in a very lucky position that, as long as I am minding, I will always have a snuggler.

BTW, the perfect book for a sneaky cuddle is Cuddly Dudley by Jez Alborough. You just have to have a squodge!

I have two boys, and a girl in the middle, amd the two boys couldn't be more different. DS1 has never been afectionate, even as a small baby, he seemed to get no comfort from being held. As soon as he was mobile, he just used to wriggle away, and now he is seven, kisses and cuddles are a no no, even if he has hurt himself.I am a very affectionate person, and find him very difficult to parent, but that's just the way he is. DS2 is nearly two, and the most cuddly adorable, placid little thing ever. He falls asleep sucking his thumb and stroking me - my ear, arm, tummy, foot, whatever he can get his hand on. He is just so different from his brother. I love them both, but I am enjoying the cuddles so much more having had a non-cuddly first baby. DD in the middle, is a bit cuddly - she's kind of in between.

ceebee74 · 23/01/2008 20:09

Am v about reading these - Ds is 18 months and is so NOT an affectionate boy, If I ask for a kiss, he offers me the top of his head or his cheek - he will sit on your lap happily (as long as you have a book to read him) but he rarely puts his arms round you for a cuddle - I find it quite sad as I just want to kiss and cuddle him all the time

lizandlulu · 23/01/2008 20:17

i also am very . my dd has never volenterily (yes spelt wrong!) given me cuddles. i have to ask for kisses and also get offered a cheek. very rarely she will go to sleep on my lap after having a bottle before bed time, and i have to get all my cuddles then as she would never allow herself to be that close for that long.

Bluestocking · 23/01/2008 20:22

My DS is a real cuddler, he gets into bed with us in the morning and snuggles up and wraps my arms round him until everything's arranged just the way he likes it. He is really kissy too. It's so lovely, really melts my heart. I'm glad to hear that there are some cuddly teenage boys out there, I'm hoping for hugs from my boy when he's a towering six-footer!

lizandlulu · 23/01/2008 20:32

anyone on this thread. can we swop, please, pretty please, just for a day?

saffy202 · 23/01/2008 20:35

ds2 is 9 and he is a cuddler Loves to snuggle into me and we have 'cuddle parties' with a 'cuddle party' song!

HappiesGlamore · 23/01/2008 20:35

um, i think you may all find that it is I who has the honour of being most cuddled mner. and despite LTH's assertions, mine are in fact the cutest kids on mn. im sorry to disappoint anyone, but those are actually facts.

[smug]

Dottydot · 23/01/2008 20:38

We've got chalk and cheese ds's in this house. Ds1 (6) can't stand displays of physical affection and the only way to get to hug him is to tickle him mercilessly!

Ds2 (nearly 4) is the cuddliest child in the world - I swear he's still part baby, part animal. He gets all snuffly when he's cuddling and adores cuddling in the morning when we're in our body-smelly pyjamas! If you sit down for any length of time anywhere he's on your knees and cuddling up.

I love it but I'm a HUGE softie..!

lizandlulu · 23/01/2008 20:51

right just shut up now

RGPargy · 23/01/2008 22:11

MaureenMLove - you sound like a wonderful childminder. You sound like someone that actually does it because you love kids and not one that does it purely for the money.

DS (17) asked me for a cuddle the other day when he gave me my birthday card/pressie. I was very as he hasn't wanted mummycuds for absolutely ages!!

ItsNeverTooEarlyForPopcorn · 23/01/2008 22:13

I love nuzzling my dd2s chubby cheeks. I have a real craving for it, especially as she giggles when I do it.

TrinityRhinosDhWonHerAnIPOD · 23/01/2008 22:17

dd2 says 'kiss and cuds' (kisses and cuddles)
and she then finds it hilarious to wipe my kisses off her (little monster)

she also does really funny 'air' kisses and cuds with daddy when he comes in totally black from work

madrose · 23/01/2008 22:21

'I need a cuddle' is said by DD , Dh and me. Another favouite of DD's is BIG HUG where we all cuddle together. DD is so cuddle decicious. nearly 3 and when we're tired, we cuddle up under a blanket to watch snow white (AGAIN). she normally comes into bed sometime during the night claps her hands and says cuddle me. No idea where the clapping came from - but I am a willing slave.

I love her so much when we cuddle I try to enhale her essence.
