Yes I have a favourite - but I love and treat them all equally.

I have 2 (due 3rd in a week or so!)

I had a bad time with DD1 as my mum died when she was 2 weeks old unexpectedly. I used her as comfort, spoilt her and generally let her rule my life for a good 15 months until DD2 came along.

Personality wise the girls are so different, DD2 reminds me so much of my mum I cant help but feel a stronger bond with her. Things were a lot more settled when she was born and I was a lot more relaxed - i wasnt up to my eyeballs on anti-depresants for a start.

I know the baby I am carrying is a boy, and Im scared I will favour him over the girls because I have always wanted a boy, but Im sure when it comes to it, he will be the same as the girls - the apple of my eye.

I love them all the same, but treat them very differently. I have a lot more patience for my 2yr old than I do my 3yr old for example, probably because of the age thing.

I have different favourite bits of each of my kids nbut don't favour one over the other I don't think.

If asked though Dd1 and Dd2 would say I favour Ds, but thats because he is my baby and I can't get through the day without giving him a munch LOL.

My fave part of Dd1 is her confidence and my fave part of Dd2 is he compassion for others.

It depends what the time is!

CharlesandEddie · 16/11/2007 18:19

love them all the same
totally DO have a favourite - isn't that human nature!

loler · 16/11/2007 21:15

I'm all doped up on baby hormones at the moment and this thread is making me all emotional - I've got 3 dcs. Living with them is like living with anyone, could kill them all equally on a wet sunday when locked in the house with nowhere to go. But I go through cycles of which I prefer. Probably not got a favourite but not sure!

I do feel differently about ds2 but he's only 11 weeks and I think you're meant to feel differently about babies otherwise how do you get up in the night for weeks on end! Will be interesting to see when he is smashing up the house and fighting with the others.

themoon66 · 16/11/2007 21:17

I love different parts of them both equally.. DD I love for her independence and outspokeness for the underdog. DS I love for his quiet logical way of thinking.

BitTiredNow · 16/11/2007 21:24

my favourite is the one who isn't answering back. Or trying to kill one of the others. This changes hourly minutely

unknownrebelbang · 16/11/2007 21:26

I have a favourite for the weekend - DS3 as both brothers are away - is that allowed?

onlyjoking9329 · 16/11/2007 21:33

my favorite is the one who doesn't wake me up at silly o'clock

mossycow · 16/11/2007 21:37

Aye, dairylea. Just had our first born and can;t imagine how could possibly love another child as much.

SKipping a beat thinking of her. I could eat her chubby cheeks, nibble un her soft ears and I go gooeey when she giggles...

I can honestly say that ilove all my 5 the same but they all think that i love one of the others more than them.

chankins · 16/11/2007 22:28

I love them equally, no doubt about that. Do treat them differently at times. Especially the girls, because they are quite different and I have learnt to respond to and handle them in different ways that suit them. Ds is the baby, though to me they are all my babies forever and ever and ever....and as much as I miss them being babies, I can't wait to see them all grow up....sorry, bit mushy, been enjoying my friday night drinky!

ChippyMinton · 16/11/2007 22:29

in sanswer to the OP - no. they all fab in their own ways.

Xanthipi · 16/11/2007 22:40

There was a thread on this a few years ago and I remember the response was pretty much the same, that you love all of them, but sometmes you're more bonded to one, or you have favorites at different stages, or you just love them differently.

I remember one poster saying that of her three, she loved one because he was so kind; another because she was sweet and cuddly; and the third because he was so interesting and if she had to be stuck on a dessert island with one, it would be him, becase he'd be such good interesting company.

I loved that idea of "if I had to be stuck on a dessert island with one. . ."

For me that'd be my son. He's eccentric and doesn't have too many friends, but he's interesting as can be and I wouldn't be bored for a second. Whereas my more popular and "normal" daughter would probably drive me round the bend, really, though I love her for what she is too.
