maybe.....what would it be?

7swansaswimmingup · 14/12/2006 14:14

ta marymillington,

my son takes drugs to stop him weeing/drinking and he still seems to be weeing a lot.

im wanting to compare his urine output with another child so i know if its normal or high. would you mind keeping your childs nappies and weighing them for me please?for 24hours

when i do it, i start with the nappy ds has had on at night and then keep the nappies up till hes asleep again the next night and weigh them all in one go.does that sound ok

i would say yes usually but we are in the middle of building work on kitchen and bathroom....lord only knows where any kind of scales might be. hope you understand, sorry.

7swansaswimmingup · 14/12/2006 14:22

of course i understand dont envy you having the builders in

ComeOyefaithfulVeneer · 14/12/2006 14:23

But what about the dirty nappies? Won't that affect the results?

7swansaswimmingup · 14/12/2006 14:25

yea have to allow ounce each for the weight of the nappy and take off ounce or so for the shitmy ds is always constipated cause he looses so much water so i can put poops down the bog

children can vary a lot though, I'm not really sure how helpful it would be unless you had a few to get an average. One of my twins fills up his nappy far more quickly than the other.

7swansaswimmingup · 14/12/2006 14:28

praps you could do both your twins for me kelly youre right i could probably do with an average from a few people. i know its a pain, but im getting a bit desperate with his stupid crappy paeditrician and i think ds needs his injections upped, i thought if i had a comparision i could tell the doc as proof. unless hes peeing the same as normal kids now

Kelly1978GotRunOverByAReindeer · 14/12/2006 14:33

they are nearly 21 mnths, is that too young?

7swansaswimmingup · 14/12/2006 14:36

that would be fine kelly if you dont mind, so grateful.my ds is only just 2 and quite small so a few months difference wont matter.

OP posts:
ComeOyefaithfulVeneer · 14/12/2006 14:38

I could do it too with ds (will be 2 next week)

7swansaswimmingup · 14/12/2006 14:40

yes please comeoyefaithful, that would be great.

it might be that his weeing is normal now, at least i will know then as i dont have any friends in real with 2year olds

OP posts:
tweetyfish · 14/12/2006 14:41

do you need more than 1? have a 25month DD, but she doesn't pee a lot, so not sure if she's typical, but can help if you wantme to!

ComeOyefaithfulVeneer · 14/12/2006 14:41

Right so it is deduct 1 ounce for every nappy and an extra ounce for any dirty ones correct?

Kelly1978GotRunOverByAReindeer · 14/12/2006 14:42

ok, will post the results tomorrow. I'll start from when I change them for bed.

Can't quite believe I'm going to be weighing pooey nappies.

7swansaswimmingup · 14/12/2006 14:48

tweety fish, that would be great please

right ladies, starting tonight from bedtime nappy then nappies that you use during day up till bedtime tomorow night. then post please, im hoping that your results will be roughly same as my ds.

comeoyefaithful i deduct an ounce for the nappy cause i weighed an unused one and it was about an ounce, theyre probably all the same. i havent actually weighed a poop but guessed at an ounce or so unless yours do hardies like mine and can be flipped out of the nappy into the loo

kelly if your little ones just have a shite and no pee dont bother weighing it.

Oh they do it first thing in the morning on top of all the nightime urine so I'm def gonna be weighing shit.

7swansaswimmingup · 14/12/2006 14:52

Haven't got a nearly 2 yo, but when reading this a thought crossed my mind: wouldn't it be a lot more hygenic to just weigh each nappy as you change it? What i mean is, take it off, put it in a bag and put the bag on the scales, write it down and at the end of the day add it all up (I am sure plastic bag doesn't weigh a lot, but if you'd want to be very precise you could also at the end of the day when you add it all up count the number of bags and weigh that number of empty bags and substract from the total). This would avoid you having to have poo-ey nappies in the house all day... . I'd be quite interested in the result, so I'll make sure I'll check this thread again....

7swansaswimmingup · 14/12/2006 21:05

hi pinecones, lovely name by the way

i used to weigh mine seperately but now i pile them on the scales and do at the end of the day. my ds does hard plops so i ping them in the loo so i dont have poop smell in the kitchen all day.

dont know about the mums helping me out! god youre right their kitchens are gona stink if they do runnies

Kelly1978GotRunOverByAReindeer · 15/12/2006 17:41

I did them as I went, no way I am saving my stinky nappies! I dont think bags weigh nething noticeable.

dt1 - 18 3/4 oz
dt2 - 34 oz

that sounds a hell of a lot to me for dt2. I'm wondering if he is secretly gobbling dt1's bottles. I want to know what is normal now!

tweetyfish · 15/12/2006 18:01

ok, in 23 hours, DD peed 11.4oz....

Am now quite worried that this is very very little, although she has never drunk a lot since babyhood and has never had a full nappy as such... Will try and make her drink more I think.

7swansaswimmingup · 15/12/2006 18:10

mmmm thats interesting, i havent done mine yet as hes still up so probably in about an hour, so far hes on 29oz. could be upto 40oz by 7pm if his meds wear off. most days he pees about 50oz which is a lot considering the drugs is meant to stop him doing it!

interesting with the twins! what a lot of difference!

tweety thats not a lot is it!

do really really really appreciate what youve done for me.

we'll wait for comeonoveneer to check in now!

gota go and get ds ready for bed, be back about 7pm.thanks again.xx
