DS - Balloon.

DD - Duck (which was also my first word).

aimingforthesky · 22/02/2011 21:14

And of course first letter she recognised was M

skiphopskidaddle · 22/02/2011 21:16

DS1 (who had speech delay then launched into proper sentences)

"It's a star. It's two stars."

We were Shock he can count. Wait a minute, Shock he can talk

squiggleywiggler · 22/02/2011 22:21

My daughter (12 months) just said her first word. It was 'bottom'. She gleefully shrieks it as I push her/babywear her around London.

crazycarol · 22/02/2011 23:45

"Door", but could be anything eg window, chair etc

muminthecity · 22/02/2011 23:48

DD's first word was 'England!' We were watching the football with all the family, England were playing in the world cup. She's 5 now and still has a keen interest in the football! Grin

kreecherlivesupstairs · 23/02/2011 05:27

DH decided that DD shouted lifeguard at the age of 4 months. In reality it was Dad Smile

Sassles · 23/02/2011 21:06

Dada dada but just syllables not any recognition of it being Dad.

First word was "cat" at 7 months with pointing to it closely followed by bubbles (due to swimming lessons). No mum or mama yet.

Beamur · 23/02/2011 21:07

DD said 'that' which was incredibly useful.

hewlettsdaughter · 23/02/2011 21:10

Another "door" here

ItsMeMo · 23/02/2011 21:10

DD said sausages! No idea why...

manchestermummy · 23/02/2011 21:26

DD's was "rat". She has a toy rat; we don't have an infestation or anything.

mumsgonemad123 · 23/02/2011 22:42

after mama and dada they were: 'cheeeeese' gone, more, poo, dea (tea) baby, and most bizarrely 'turkey' which was said as clear as a bell when looking at a picture of a turkey in a farm book.

blondieminx · 27/02/2011 01:28

We got the usual mama and dada and also "ooey" (Lucy, our cat).... was very proud of DD's speech until she said "bugger" very clearly when she dropped something, in the presence of my MIL . At 12 months Blush Blush Blush

sharbie · 27/02/2011 01:57

rinders Grin reminds me of a friend who worked at playschool abd told me of a little girl who when it was snack time would loudly toast the whole table with a cheers while raising her cup up high

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 27/02/2011 02:22

Showy - DS didn't talk at all until after his second birthday. His first word was 'ili-copta' and he has not shut up since Hmm Grin

TuttoRhino · 27/02/2011 12:02

Cow - she loved to say cow. And it was said in an incredibly deep voice which sounded all the more bizarre.

EllenJane1 · 27/02/2011 16:32

My DS2s first word was 'square' closely followed by 'triangle' and 'circle'. All quite clear but not very useful. His favourite subject is Maths of course. Smile

CuppaTeaJanice · 27/02/2011 16:38

Mine was Cheese
DS's was Tree Confused
My niece's was Bugger!

DS - duck

Me - more Blush

ReadingTeaLeaves · 27/02/2011 22:33

Duck. Ball. Book. Outside ("Asside"), Shoes ("Shuz") and "Wozzat?" in that order. Daddy is in there too but still barely ever mummy Hmm. 14 months. Slightly concerned after reading this thread that bugger and cheers will not be far behind.

DMCWelshCakes · 28/02/2011 20:33

"oh dear"

Thanks for that DiddyDragon. :)

londontj · 28/02/2011 20:35

'Shoes' here too, closely followed by 'Hat', 'Boots' and 'coat'. Then 'keys' and 'door'. She's a girl who likes to go out.

At lunch with my girlfriends yesterday, I asked her what she would like to drink and said 'wine, mummy' pointing at my merlot. She's 15mo. Blush

Beasknees · 28/02/2011 20:37

dd bubbles
ds1 snow
ds2 car
