Girl's Name Suggestions...

2plus2more · 09/06/2010 16:19

OK - so we've just found out we're having twin girls. We have 1 girl's name (with middle name) that we absolutely love. The other name we've come up with is one that we like, but don't love so I'm looking for suggestions. Name we're definitely using means "light" and we like it because of the Christian conotations of having light through Christ. For the 2nd twin the middle name will probably be Hope so need something to go with that. Don't want anything too common as the other name is very uncommon!

Is the first name Lucy? That means light?
If you tell us the name you are having, we can give suggestions.

Names to go with Hope could be:

Violet Hope
Honeysuckle Hope
Constance Hope
Olivia Hope (prob lots though)
Rebekah Hope (going with christian theme)
Maria Hope

luciemule · 09/06/2010 16:26

Ooh yes - Frances/Francesca Hope is lovely.

2plus2more · 09/06/2010 16:30

Not Lucy - not going to say what it is as I suspect there are friends lurking who wouldn't be above "nicking" a name!

I love Thea and Maria but not the meanings.
I like Naomi, but it's pretty common.
Also love Olivia and Rebekah but we already have 1 of each in the family.

Zoe - Greek, means life, lots of history to the name - two saints and was used in New Testamnet Greek in the context of eternal life.

Not sure if unusual enough for you - but not used much for little girls these days in the UK (although still just about top 100) - more for my generation I guess (I'm thirty something!) More popular in France and USA I think.

I love the name Zoe - esp. the Christian connotations.

Lilith

Eleanor, Oralee, Nahara, Phoebe, Saskia... all have light in their meanings

ps is Rebekah not a Jewish name?'

I'm not Jewish but like loads bible names OT as well as NT.I don't think there is a notion of Jewish names in the UK the way there is in the US for example.

I quite like Soshanna and Eliora, I think Hebrew/'Jewish'

Treeesa · 09/06/2010 20:08

Zohara is a Hewbrew name that means light or splendour

Splendid Hope..

Sedgiebaby

The reason I asked was because a poster had suggested Rebekah and said it was to keep with a Christian theme, whereas I would consider Rebekah a Jewish name (as in biblical.) I agree though, that lots of popular mainstream names would actually have had Jewish origins eg Sarah, Leah, Rachel.
