Ok, 5 days to go and still no decision if DC2 is a girl!

Current list is:

Meredith
Imogen
Tessa (shortened to Tess)
Eliza
Rebecca
Phoebe

MN will be May. Any thoughts? If I'm honest, Tess is my favourite, Imogen is DH's favourite, and Meredith is the top 'compromise' name that we both like.

Imogen or Tessa. They're both perfect.
Definately not Meredith!!
Toss a coin thats what we had to do.

pavlovalover · 01/06/2010 09:00

From your list I prefer Eliza.

I find Imogen and Meredith a bit harsh. Rebecca is nice. Not fussed on Tessa or Phoebe.

What's DC1's name?

DaydreamDolly · 01/06/2010 09:05

Imogen and Phoebe are my favourites and go well with May as a MN.
Not sure about Meredith, just doesn't seem a girlie name.

SqueezyB · 01/06/2010 09:08

DD is Polly. Is Meredith that bad then? We thought it was quite unusual and can be shortened to Merry, which is cute.

I like Meredith and I think it sounds lovely with May. But actually all your names are lovely!

LuluF · 01/06/2010 09:15

Tess

bumbums · 01/06/2010 09:17

Meredith is a dried up old lady name to me.
Imogen is good cos you can shorten it to genie.

pixiestix · 01/06/2010 09:19

No, Meredith is not bad, its lovely! I think its just more of an "adult" name than a baby name iyswim, which might put people off.
My preferences, in order, would be:

Meredith
Phoebe
Tessa (shortened to Tess)
Imogen
Eliza
Rebecca

Doozie · 01/06/2010 11:34

Meredith - nope, how about Marianne instead?
Imogen - ok
Tessa (shortened to Tess) - Yes
Eliza - Yes
Rebecca - ok
Phoebe - Yes

capstone · 01/06/2010 11:40

Meredith - like a lot
Imogen - not very keen
Tessa/Tess - yes if short for Teresa
Eliza - Doolittle, not very keen
Rebecca - like a lot
Phoebe - quite like

My favourite combination from your list would be Meredith Rebecca

capstone · 01/06/2010 11:41

Sorry, forgot May will be middle name! Well in that case, I think Rebecca May

theagedparent · 01/06/2010 12:43

Meredith May is lovely

snowwombat · 01/06/2010 12:49

They are all lovely. Meredith can be shortened to Merry which is nice for a little girl. Imogen is great too. Good luck deciding!

LetThereBeRock · 01/06/2010 12:51

I like Meredith but I wouldn't use the middle name May with that. They sound too twee when used together.

I also love Imogen and Tessa/Tess.

clpsmum · 01/06/2010 13:22

Polly & Tess sounds just adorable i love both names they sound like two cutie sisters

swanandduck · 01/06/2010 13:24

DD is Tessa. I much prefer that to Tess, but seem to be in a minority on mumsnet.

Of your other names:

Meredith - Don't like
Imogen - lovely
Eliza - Nice
Rebecca - A bit boring
Phoebe - I have never 'got' this name

mathanxiety · 01/06/2010 15:52

I don't like Meredith either, or Imogen. Phoebe is nice, but I don't like Phoebe May.

Love Eliza, Rebecca and Tessa.

lamplighter · 01/06/2010 16:06

Phoebe and Imogen are lovely. My niece is Eliza and it has been shortened to Ellie which is very common at the moment.

lifeinthesun · 01/06/2010 16:14

Eliza or Tess.

diddl · 01/06/2010 17:28

Imogen or Phoebe.

withorwithoutyou · 01/06/2010 17:39

Tess but like Imogen too.

said · 01/06/2010 17:45

Meredith - no, don't like. See it as a Madison type name (and I know it's not)
Imogen - ok
Tessa (shortened to Tess) - like this
Eliza - lovely name, don't think it would occur to many people to shorten to Ellie at all
Rebecca - ok, bit dull, don't like any of the shortenings
Phoebe - hmm, ok

outnumberedbymyboys · 01/06/2010 17:59

Meredith - a harsh name.
Imogen - pretty and still unusual enough.
Tessa - just lovely.
Eliza -really unusual and lovely.
Rebecca - can real of 6 with no problem at all.
Phoebe - still think of 'Friends' and a bit twee. (from a Mumsnetter with a twee name!)

I prefer Tess. There are loaaddds of Rebecca's, and I don't like Becky.
I hate Imogen. Not sure why, but to me it's harsh, and all the old ladie's who I see in the hospital where I work have this name.
Phoebe is pretty and meredith is ok, but there are lot's of people with this as a surname. Eliza may flows well too.
