Boy's names - Edward, Hugo, Oscar , Isaac or Max?

Once again, re-worked my boy's name list.

Which of these do you prefer:

Hugo, Edward, Oscar, Isaac or Max

We will be living in Australia so no worries about class issues, posh etc. Just looking for a cute name which is classic and not too popular (although I realise most of these are now quite popular). Any other suggestions of names in the same vein would be appreciated.

Also - Edward is my father's and grandfather's name so would mean a lot to call the baby this.

Thanks!

I've got a Max and he's wonderful!

Shaz10 · 21/05/2010 16:33

I have an Edward and we love it.

But all of those names are great. I know that's no help. I would keep all 5 on hold and wait till he's born. We had about 4 names ready and picked one when we saw him.

Aaron
Noah
Oliver
Toby
Otto
Theo

But all yours are lovely too! I suppose Edward would be my choice (also nice to have family connections)

Edward is my fave but it is also on my shortlist too. Would you use a nn and what is your fave nn for Edward?

DrSpechemin · 21/05/2010 16:40

Edward is my favourite from your list

emmyloo2 · 21/05/2010 16:44

I think it would be great if I did go with Edward, because my Dad goes by his middle name, so there would be no confusion. My grandfather has also passed away so it would be nice to continue the family tradition. It is quite uncommon in Australia - quite oldfashioned I suspect but that's why I like it.

As a nn - Eddie or Ed I think. Maybe Teddy as a baby and toddler. My grandfather went by Eddie his whole life. It suited him.

Also love the suggestions of Noah, Theo and Oliver. I was always going to call a boy Noah but I am concerned it is a little bit too popular in Australia. They are all lovely names though so I can see why they are popular.

Hugo and Max are both lovely.

MrsJohnDeere · 21/05/2010 16:50

Edward

LynetteScavo · 21/05/2010 16:52

Oooh, emyloo, you have my boys names list!

I already have one Ds with a name from the list.

DS was going to be Hugo, but it just didn't suit him.

In a perfect world I would now go forth and produce twin boys called Hugo and Edward (Or maybe Hugo and Hector )

Anyway, all the names are fabulous. Have a look at what your baby looks like when he pops out...all of the names you like get the thumbs up from me.

blowninonabreeze · 21/05/2010 16:52

I know a family with 3 boys, 2 of whom have been named in your list.

They also have a Toby which i think is lovely

If I'd had a boy, he'd be called Edward. With Ned as a NN

swanandduck · 21/05/2010 16:55

Hugo and Max are both lovely.

EleanorD · 21/05/2010 17:02

I love your list but I think Hugo and Max are my faves.

woofie · 21/05/2010 18:52

Oscar followed by Edward w Ned as nn

jellybeans · 21/05/2010 18:59

Isaac or Max are the nicest!! At a push would choose Max as it is short, I prefer short names for boys.

Mimi1977 · 21/05/2010 19:20

Edward - Ned (Think Kelly!)

piscesmoon · 21/05/2010 19:37

Edward

MamaVoo · 21/05/2010 19:54

Edward.

missdashwood · 21/05/2010 19:56

All fab names! We've shortlisted Edward and William, so Edward would be my choice for you. We are struggling to decide though on middle names for either. Any suggestions greatly appreciated? We've decided on Elizabeth if its a girl, but again can't settle on a middle name.

DuelingFanjo · 21/05/2010 19:58

Isaac.

ZZZenAgain · 21/05/2010 19:58

Edward

eatyourveg · 21/05/2010 20:00

Hugo Edward

CDMforever · 21/05/2010 20:09

We have a Max who is absolutely gorgeous in every way! We also call him Maximus, Maxi-Boy and Massimiliano. His full name is Maximilian.

LiquoriceLila · 22/05/2010 12:01

Isaac or Max

BridesheadRegardless · 22/05/2010 12:13

Both my sons names are on your list!

I like Edward and Max best. But also love Hugo, less keen on Isaac and Oscar.

BuzzingNoise · 22/05/2010 12:18

Edward would be my choice from the list.

I do like Hugo though, and I've never met one.

Oscar is extremely popular at the moment so I wouldn't go for that.

Isaac is ok.

Max is nice for a dog.
