Boy's names - Edward, Hugo, Oscar , Isaac or Max?

Once again, re-worked my boy's name list.

Which of these do you prefer:

Hugo, Edward, Oscar, Isaac or Max

We will be living in Australia so no worries about class issues, posh etc. Just looking for a cute name which is classic and not too popular (although I realise most of these are now quite popular). Any other suggestions of names in the same vein would be appreciated.

Also - Edward is my father's and grandfather's name so would mean a lot to call the baby this.

Thanks!

(are there no classes in Australia then?)

sonniebonnie · 22/05/2010 15:20

BuzzingNoise, I've lived in several countries and only in the UK are people so obsessed with categorising names and people according to some 'posh' - 'chav' scale.

In most other countries people do not pre-judge someone based on his/her name.

BuzzingNoise · 22/05/2010 20:38

I didn't know that. How weird. I wonder why it all started.

Edward called Teddy

MrTeapot207 · 23/01/2011 00:39

Edward is top of our boy's name list. Love it! Never seen a thread like this one for boy's names that we love as much - Felix, Max and also William mentioned. Ever thought of Oscar?

Please no more Edwards!

Sorry for negativity but its on every other thread.

FranSanDisco · 23/01/2011 11:58

Max and Isaac are my favourites.

HarderToKidnap · 23/01/2011 22:06

Isaac, lovely name.

pipplin · 23/01/2011 22:14

Edward, especially with the family connection. Our DS' name has a family link. I think means so much to have that.

Bicnod · 24/01/2011 06:56

I have an Oscar so think it's the best name ever Grin

Bicnod · 24/01/2011 06:56

p.s. nice list by the way

Tamasine · 24/01/2011 09:22

DS1 is Isaac so am biased here, but agree with pipplin that family connections are really nice too - DS2 has the same name as DH's grandfather and it has meant so much to his mum.

Bonsoir · 24/01/2011 09:23

Hugo and Edward are both lovely names.

Max is very nice.

I'm not keen on either Oscar or Isaac - bit pretentious.

jellybeans · 24/01/2011 10:16

Max

with Isaac second.

eatyourveg · 24/01/2011 10:32

Hugo with Edward as a middle name

caz05 · 24/01/2011 10:50

I love Isaac (as my son is named this) and also love Max which is on our list for the new baby if it is a boy

Lamorna · 24/01/2011 10:59

Edward.

deliakate · 24/01/2011 11:01

Edward. Its a really good name, and the family connection would swing it for me.

LoveInAColdClimate · 24/01/2011 15:46

Hugo.
