Lucy Elizabeth...
Charlotte Lucy or Charlotte (Lottie) Elizabeth
Larissa ???? (poss. Nell, Beth ...erm what else?)

Two v. safe choices there and one a bit further out... Which would go best with William but also sound v. pleasing in it's own right? Thanks!

William and Charlotte

madamefreckle · 20/05/2010 15:43

My only problem with Lucy and Charlotte (although I like them both) is that they are really popular atm I think. I wanted a v. 'normal' boy's name but would kind of prefer something a bit more unusual for a girl but also a name that people know how to spell and doesn't sound pretentious or far out! However, maybe I should stick with classic, solid girls' names.

William and Lucy sound perfect!

I only know 1 Lucy aged 8 and 1 aged 30.

WhatsAllThisThen · 20/05/2010 15:49

I know exactly what you mean - my girls' names are a bit more 'out there', but i would want something a bit more standard for a boy.

Larissa is ok but I love both Charlotte and Lucy and while they're popular, at least they are timeless and not faddish.

madamefreckle · 20/05/2010 15:54

Thanks, so which out of Lucy and Charlotte has the best vibe/ring do you think?

I love Lucy and Charlotte and TBH there are not as popular now. Don't know anyone under the age of 4 called Lucy or Charlotte. Don't like Larissa.

randomimposter · 20/05/2010 16:35

Of the ones you mention...
Charlotte

William's great BTW!

HecateQueenOfWitches · 20/05/2010 16:37

Abigail?
Francesca?
Elizabeth?
Maria?

But of Lucy and Charlotte, I prefer Charlotte

liliputlady · 20/05/2010 18:07

Lucy and Charlotte both lovely - maybe William can help decide?!

Hulababy · 20/05/2010 18:16

Lucy or Charlotte.

I don't like Larissa, sorry.

MunchkinsMumof2 · 20/05/2010 18:34

Lucy was the name that came into my head before i clicked on the link!

mathanxiety · 20/05/2010 20:00

Lucy just edges Charlotte imo. I don't like Larissa half as much as the other two.

NoahAndTheWhale · 20/05/2010 20:02

I know a William who has a little sister called Harriet

madamefreckle · 20/05/2010 20:24

I think I'm ruling out Larissa on the basis of this conversation! MunchkinsMum - It must be a sign! Do you know a William and Lucy duo?
liliputlady - I've asked him and he seems to like both...which is good!

Lucy Elizabeth

MrsTicklemouse · 20/05/2010 20:34

Charlotte

CharlieBoo · 20/05/2010 21:38

I'm a Lucy Charlotte aged 30. How cool that my name is still 'in' lol. Good luck with the bubs. I know a jessica whose new baby bro is going to be 'William'

tattycoram · 20/05/2010 21:41

I think I prefer Charlotte. Alice would go well, do you like that?

MunchkinsMumof2 · 20/05/2010 22:49

No, I don't know any Lucy / William combos, I just thought they matched - Good luck choosing!

zozzle · 20/05/2010 22:52

William and Charlotte are lovely - but just a warning - they could be narcotically (is that a word??) shortened to Billy (nn for speed) and Charlie (nn for cocaine). One or other would be fine but both may be a bit overkill.

If you did go for both then I'm sure the association would go over most people's heads - maybe it is just me!(No I am not a drug addict before you ask!! But was a savvy twenty something a long, long time ago!!)

nelly83 · 20/05/2010 23:30

Hey think Lucy or Charlotte would be great. I'm a Charlotte Jayne and like my name. People call me Charlie which I love because it's a fun name. But use Charlotte for work! Love William btw x

madamefreckle · 20/05/2010 23:50

LOL zozzle!! Do you ever 'overthink' things by any chance?! You are totally right though...in a certain crowd, at a certain time. God forbid!!

I do really like the fact that Charlotte has a choice of shortenings. Lucy doesn't but could be Lulu or Luce etc I guess. I know names don't necessarily need abbreviations, I just think that it might be good to provide a choice! Although, I suppose she could always decide that she wants to be known by her middle name...

I prefer Lucy. Dh has cousins who are William and Charlotte and they are a couple of wet, bloodless individuals so that might be why I'm not so keen on Charlotte. Don't like Larissa at all.

thumbwitch · 21/05/2010 00:58

Mary
Belinda (Bill and Bel)

Larissa is a fairly common Russian name, do you have Russian connections? If not, I wouldn't use it.

NoahAndTheWhale · 21/05/2010 05:53

Alice nice as well (DD is called Alice Charlotte )
