We have a thread for girls names so why not one for boys?

Oh I see.

downthecreek · 12/05/2010 18:31

Tom, James & David are in a completely different league to Charlie.

shockers · 12/05/2010 18:32

I know two sets of brothers named Charlie and Alfie.

See Charles and Alfred are used by completely different people to Charlie & Alfie. As are Billy and William. Not the same names at all.

My DS's name isn't on here (yet!) - YAY!!

I dislike most boys names beginning with a 'K' - sorry

seashore · 12/05/2010 20:49

My ds's name isn't here yet either!

My dh's name has poped up once, it's an unusual name so I'm surprised. Didn't tell him!

seashore · 12/05/2010 20:50

Any shortened version of perfectly good names.

Eg Charlie, Alfie, Billy
Any hyphenated names such as Billy-Jo.
Old grandad names such as Arthur and Albert.
Made-up sounding names eg Cayden, Braydon or any names ending in on an or en for that matter!

CheerfulYank · 13/05/2010 01:09

My DS is Samuel called Sam as well.

Actually, 60Foot, I don't think it's been that bad of a thread. I'm not offended if people don't like the names I've chosen, and so far I haven't seen anyone saying "Anyone who names their kid such-and-such is a total frigging idiot" or anything. Just, "these are names I don't personally care for."

TiggyR · 13/05/2010 14:09

Has nobody been along to tell you off for being cruel to the working classes yet? Tut tut, the MN bleeding-heart police have obviously taken their eyes off the ball. Probably all still locked in the loo crying over Ham and Clegg.

AndieWalsh · 13/05/2010 14:17

God, feel sorry for all the mums of Caidens and Braydens reading this

I don't really 'hate' any names. You can dislike a name intensely, but then meet someone lovely with that name and it totally changes your feelings about it.

I am generally not a fan of surnames as first names (Harrison, Mason etc), or anglicized Irish names (Caitlin as 'Kate-Lynn', Niamh spelled Neve etc) but hey, each to their own.

waitingimpatiently · 13/05/2010 14:41

I don't like names that are too short to be a whole name (I'm one of those has to have a full name) like Jai or Kai.

Also, names that are surnames, but not ones like Mackenzie or Tyler(Wouldn't pick them myself but it's not offensive) but my DP's surname is Williams, so not William (William Williams haha) and my friends surname is Wain (Wayne Wain).

I love Louis (pronounced Louie, not Lewis) but we're having a girl so boys names are irrelevant for me anyway hehe

FrogPrincess · 13/05/2010 14:50

I really don't like the idea of listing a whole bunch of names you don't like, or in some cases 'hate'. We all have our preferences and rational or irrational dislikes, but why make them public? It's a free MN though, so I can just ignore the thread, I do know that.

Just wanted to say that I used to dislike a particular boy's name, but I have now started feeling more neutral about it simply because dd has a huge crush on a lovely boy bearing that name....

fabhead · 13/05/2010 16:47

so ARE there any boys names left that haven't been mentioned on this thread that I can call my ds3 and then I won't offend a single person on MN

i dont think this thread is offensive - it is lighthearted and anyone that thinks a)that it is possible to find a name that every single person will like or b) gives that much of a shit about other people's opinions shouldn't be on this thread imo

Hold your heads up high mothers of the
-aydens!! (I know a nice Hayden actually)

StrictlyTory · 13/05/2010 18:14

I cannot stand Louis. The most weak sounding boys name possible!

It actually makes me shudder writing it, saying it I makes me want to do a baby voice.

Lonnie · 13/05/2010 21:26

Connor
Callum
