Imarriedafrog, but why do they like it so much? I said why I don't like it. I'm just wondering because I think it's odd that it is so popular.

I like it because I like the way it sounds, I like that it goes well w/DS1's name (Sam), I like Capts of the Sparrow and Harkness variety , and there actually aren't that many Jacks in my area of the US. I could go on if you'd like

I am so happy as the name we have chosen, should we have a darling son next, hasn't come up once. Yet.

I second anything ending with "ayden" unless it actually is the name "Aidan." And Landon, Jordan, etc. And most "son" names. (Addison, Grayson, Jayson, Madison especially, even though that is a girl's name. )

Another thing I was going to add about my favorite name Jack There's a line of men's products here called Every Man Jack...and that's how I think of it. A strong, solid, everyman kind of name. Those are the ones I like: Sam, Jack, Charlie, etc.

I tend to agree re names that sound like surnames,with a few exceptions.

I overheard "Milo" in the supermarket the other day!

I wasn't in Asda obviously.

Am I wrong to be watching this and the girls' names thread in anticipation of conceiving and consequently naming DC2? Somehow there is a more interesting variety of names coming up than your average baby names thread.

But I do think it would add another dimension if everyone was to add their own child/ren's name/s at the end so we get an idea what you DO like...

The first week I moved into our town I heard a woman shouting in the Co-oP "Troy" "Sapphire"

I had to duck down the next aisle so that she didn't see me PMSL.

Charlie is another one. It's a naughty name.
