I love it but my husband says it sounds like a vitamin drink...

I love it too. As a nn for Victoria - much nicer than Vicky IMHO.

BallpointPen · 28/04/2010 11:02

Von Tease.

whatwasthatagain · 28/04/2010 11:05

Sackville-West

kando · 28/04/2010 11:06

I think it's quite nice!

LadyBiscuit · 28/04/2010 11:07

S-W to me too - but that's a good thing

egyptianprincess · 28/04/2010 11:11

I quite like the S-W link yoo.

that was meant to read too. Does anybody know of any other Vitas?

I'm not so keen - but - that's because I don't really like V names. I find them a bit harsh. However, that's just me. I can definitely see why others would like it.

Actually you know what? The more I think about it, the more I like the name.

Hullygully · 28/04/2010 11:13

yup

Or what about as a middle name after Ry?

preggersplayspop · 28/04/2010 11:14

I think Ryvita or Vitamins. I'm with your DH on this one.

CakeandRoses · 28/04/2010 11:31

It's a strong name with a great meaning - not my taste as I like 'prettier'-sounding names but I certainly don't dislike it or think it sounds silly.

I always find this site quite helpful with unusual names as you can see what people actually called that name think of it themselves: babynamesworld.parentsconnect.com/suitability_of_Vita.html

recireci · 28/04/2010 11:33

I don't really like it, sorry.

BorisTheBold · 28/04/2010 11:34

I don't know a Vita, but I do know a Vida which is quite nice.

GladioliBuckets · 28/04/2010 11:38

How about Quita (pron Keeta)?

venusonarockbun · 28/04/2010 11:40

NOoooooo! Will have a lifetime of being called Ryvita.

oska · 28/04/2010 11:45

As above it reminds me of Ryvita - which may give rise to some odd nicknames. Or Evita, which makes me think of Elaine Page - ewww.
Then she's going to spend her whole life correcting people - is it Veeta or Vyta?
Could be Vitalite then.. all sounds a bit like biscuits and butter to me.

Be kind to your children, they're not an experiment - give them proper names!Leave silly names to the rich and famous.

Pidgin · 28/04/2010 11:48

I knew a Victoria who used Vita as a nn and I really like it but more as a nn than a given name. Has nice associations of 'life' and so on?

StepSideways · 28/04/2010 11:51

sounds like the name for one of those new pro-biotic yoghurt drinks..

also reminds me of Ryvita, or worse, levitra

PuppyMonkey · 28/04/2010 12:04

Reminds me of ohhhhhh, ohhhh, Vitalite.

I am very old.

squeaver · 28/04/2010 12:13

Yes because of Vita S-W.

You do all realise (not the OP) that it's pronounce Veeta not V-eye-ta, don't you?

StepSideways · 28/04/2010 12:17

Well, since a lot of us pronounced it wrong, I'm guessing it will be a common theme throughout the girls life!

PuppyMonkey · 28/04/2010 12:20

I wouldn't know to pronounce it Veeta. Bit iffy if you ask me.

2old4thislark · 28/04/2010 12:22

health drink or crispbread..........

piprabbit · 28/04/2010 12:24

I wanted to name DC2 Vita, but he's a boy so I had to have a rethink.

It's a lovely name. Doesn't it mean life?
