Hi, i'm due another little lady soon who i am planning to name Daisy-Mae or Daisy-May. I already have a 2 year old called Lexie-Rose so I definately want the hyphen in there.

Do you like Daisy-Mae or Daisy-May?

Wouldn't have thought Daisy could incite such passion.. It's a normal name. Even if hyphenation on the bc, the child could always lose a portion of their name later in life.

Agree Magaly. It's such an innocuous name - but really had Padraig's knickers in a right old twist.

Obviously quite a lot of people don't think it's 'just a normal name' hence the heat.

Daisy is just a normal name though. Daisy-Mae is the one that generated the heat (padriag excepted)

If you read the whole thread you'll see that it's not just Padraig.

I can see at least 10 people that think Daisy is a daft name. Myself included.

Obviously there are lot of mums with Daisys on here who don't like seeing their precious little princess's name slated.

a) Sorry if my posts seem abrasive because I don't pepper them with and all the time. I have strong opinions.

c) It very much amuses me that so many people thought I was being 'just ghastly' and that my post was deleted.

d) I DO NOT CARE THAT THERE ARE PEOPLE IN THIS THREAD HAVE CHILDREN CALLED DAISY. All my posts were in relation to the OP, who is thinking about calling her unborn child Daisy. I couldn't give a toss about the various women coming in and mentioning that their darling bundle of joy is called Daisy and therefore it's a great name.

Since when did the act of naming your child put your taste in childrens' names beyond reproach? This is the internet. If I think your child has a stupid name then quite frankly I will tell you. To be very honest you shouldn't post details about your life on the internet and then get sad or angry when people disagree with you.

Suffice to say that OP asked whether I liked Daisy-May and Daisy-Mae and all I did was to give my opinion and the reasoning behind it.

If it makes you feel any better, names that I personally am considering are Cassidy, Finbar, Lorelai and Priya so do feel free to tell me how much you hate those, don't worry I can take abuse from people over the internet quite well

I agree with you up to a point because it annoys me a bit when on a thread about the name BLAH, a few posters pop up and say 'oooh my dc's name is blah". I then feel I can't be really honest about the name! Although, that wouldn't stop you I bet.

I think the one message I would like people to get is to stop expecting people to be as nice and polite online as they are in real life.

Lorelei should be spelt Lorelei not Lorelai. Finbar is a refreshing change from Finley. Like it. Ten points. Cassidy is nmsaa. For a girl or a boy? Sounds to me like the American perception of an Irish name. But it's not terrible. Some people would classify it the C word though. Priya. Eurhg. I know it's Indian for pretty but Yark. It's 'orrible.

No I totally hear you. I like, todally hear you Cassidy. Because if you want people to say 'mmmm that's lovely' then ask a neighbour or the woman behind you in the queue in Sainsbury's. If you want strong but subjective and emotive responses ask your family. And if you want HONESTY, go to an online forum that hasn't become too nicey nicey.

I think they should be polite yes, and they shouldn't set out to hurt people.

BUT when people pipe up and say.... "oh, my daughter's name is Ophelia!' on a thread about the name Ophelia, then I feel that I'm going to be either nasty or a liar!! Why did they have to SAY that their dd's name was Ophelia on a thread about the name Ophelia.
