What do you think of Syd as a boy's name?

Yes as in Sid James but spelt Syd

Love Sid. Don't like quirky spellings myself.

What about Stan?

Syd Barrett - amazing (if a little unstable..) if you want him to have rock star potential anyway.

Personally dislike Syd.

And Stan is soooooooo bland.

I thought 'Sydney' was the (usually American) girl's name - so 'Syd' might be seen as short for that ie female (which the exception of the aforementioned crazy diamond).

Prefer good old-fashioned Sid(ney) for a boy. And indeed Stan(ley).

Ditto - thought Syd was short for Sydney? I'd go with the masculine Sid.

My son who was born sleeping is Jacob Sidney, in his memory our rainbow baby is Sydney Charlotte Jo-Anne but always just Syd I love it

Prefer Sid but it's not a name I'd choose at all. Now Stanley on the other hand is great

Also I think this spelling leaves no doubt about how it should be pronounced.
