Boys names, so difficult, another Biblical name, or something different?

It appears DC2 is a boy. We had 100% chosen girls name, but yet again struggling with boys names.

We have an Elijah Simon. Last name starts with L and rhymes with what.

This is all we can come up with

Nathaniel Isaac
Nathaniel Thomas / Tomas
Tobias Isaac

Not really in love with either of them, and don't like Toby as nn for Tobias.

Unsure whether to even use Biblical names this time or just go for something completely different.

I don't mind using a foreign name, had thought of something French (eg Etienne) as I have french ancestry and were living in a French speaking area a few months ago, also have Czech ancestry I have just found. Or any boys names that mean snow (male equivalent of Nieve)?

Any other ideas/suggestions? Thanks!

Abel? Isaac as a first name? Saul? Silas? (not sure if that last one is biblical or not)
Nathaniel is lovely though. Nat for short?

DinahRod · 27/03/2010 22:00

Nathanial is nice. Agree with you about Tobias.

How about:

Jonah

Noah

Lucian (French & biblical assoc)

Surprise · 27/03/2010 22:00

Jean-Baptiste? Mathurin? Xavier? Gabriel? Noah? Saul?

JeMeSouviens · 27/03/2010 22:20

I LOVE Noah, but with our last name it would be Knowalot! Plus it's getting very popular.

I do like Silas as well, but in our current circle there is one, although we won't be here much longer.

Probably Nate for nn of Nathaniel. Actually I think this is growing on me and it references both DH's and my name.

I like Xavier too, will put that as a potential middle name.

Cyrus is a gorge name. I know what you mean about boys names tho....they are so tricksy.

What about Solomon?

nooka · 28/03/2010 02:56

I wouldn't go obviously Old Testament if you have an Elijah already, and I think it is unwise to choose a name where the obvious (and pretty much only) nickname is something you dislike, as chances are at some point it will be used.

diddl · 28/03/2010 08:48

My fave name at the moment is Jethro, so I´ll just throw that in.

onebadbaby · 28/03/2010 08:56

Saul

LilyBolero · 28/03/2010 08:59

Matthew
Timothy
Abraham
Daniel
Barnabas

5DollarShake · 28/03/2010 09:19

Nathanial is really nice, but I would purposely avoid another Biblical name, as it's too gimmick-y for my tastes - the same way I'd avoid two flower names for girls. Twee.

MathsMadMummy · 28/03/2010 09:19

Just throwing in my vote for Isaac (my son's name!)

I also like Nathaniel, Aaron, Isiah, Noah, Jonah, Jacob.

gmtbst · 28/03/2010 10:04

Matthew, Luke, Jacob, Daniel. What about Thomas Nathaniel?

Maggie00 · 28/03/2010 10:06

Thaddeus

MathsMadMummy · 28/03/2010 13:22

Isaac, by the way, means laughter. I didn't know that until we'd already chosen it!

JeMeSouviens · 28/03/2010 17:59

Thanks all, DH is dismissing most names on the list, by doing this

Cassius - Clay
Cyrus - the Virus
Xavier - X Men

He's soooo difficult, I hope the DSs take after me!

If I wasn't going to use another Bible name (too obvious, twee), what could I use in place that wouldn't seem out of kilter with Elijah? ie I couldn't do Elijah & Brian.

How about Elijah and Ethan?

diddl · 28/03/2010 18:03

May I suggest Jethro again?

MathsMadMummy · 28/03/2010 18:51
