Well two actually as we don't know the sex of the baby. I am 39 weeks tomorrow and dh and I are still undecided.

Anyone know of a good website with names - I have had a look but can't find anything. We are after fairly traditional names but most of them seem to be quite bizairre.

Many thanks.

sorry just saw the post that said you couldn't have the name james with a surname of peach....but you were considering pixie?? pixie peach???????????????

PeachyClair · 23/07/2005 12:46

Ah, but for a possible future baby who may well never happen. That's the difference! One is allowed a little luxury in hypothetical land.
Samuel was called Anakin (DH!!!! Not me!!) for several months before becoming Samuel.

But saying that, I have learned with Stirling that you whatever I name them my family will hate, so I might as well call them what I want within reason.

I can also list you many names I would consider but I can never use.. Amber, Scarlet, Rosie, Violet, Peter, Summer, Autumn (both names I love)

Rio probably would happen if we had a ds4 at some point, but because of a longstanding link we have with carnival in this country.

mandyc66 · 23/07/2005 17:58

I liked the name Amber and thought a nice short middle name would go well like Ella...until DH said she would be handy in the rain!!!!!

My middlename was going to be lynn until my nanna said 'I hope she plays well' a mandalyn!!!

Knew someone called Anna Claire once...chocolate or cream!!

My mum went to school with a Justin who's surname was Stead...just in Stead of what!!!!

Terrible but true!!!!

PeachyClair · 23/07/2005 21:03

Glad it's not just me with the mad name sense then!

BIL was going to be Pansy. Pansy Peach.

My ds is called Leon Elijah. DP had to curb my 'creative flair' with names. He said no to Zephaniah. But i love it. If he was a girl he would have been Sienna Rose. So if the next ones a girl, she will have that, but dp and i are bickering over a 2nd boys name. I love Milo, but dp says its the name of a hot-chocolate brand . i love a good names debate!

Thanks Peachy.
No takers on Zephaniah then? I guess it really is just me .
Know a family where the oldest daughters are called Calais and Bolougne and the 7 youngest siblings all have unusual names beginning with L!

cant get my head round Milo now because of the tweenies..but like it!!!

Eulalia · 24/07/2005 10:40

Thanks again. We are both quite awkward. We like traditonal names but don't like shortened versions - fussy or what! Had quite a time finding names for our first too.

Eg I like Charlotte, Josephine, Elizabeth etc but they always end up getting shortened .... also like David but don't like Dave, like Anthony, Alexander etc. Also most of these names dh doesn't like - arggh!

However I think we are almost there (6 days to go! or thereabouts) but will let you know when the birth announcement is made

Sorry that should read "our first two"

The trouble is you go to so much trouble finding a name that cant be shortened etc,but when they get to school they get a new name by their friends!!
Someone once said to me.'stand on your doorstep and shout the name you like' try it. One day you might have to shout them in for tea!!!!

I still like Niamh and cant see how that can be shortened!! ne!!!

Em32 · 25/07/2005 12:55

What about Hannah, Lucy, Sarah, James, Max, Ben, Tim, Harry, George? Given you these as they are all relatively difficult to shorten....
Too many Jacks and Ellas around where I live.

collision · 25/07/2005 13:47

We have Max and Joshua and they are changed to Maximino and JoshyJosh!!!!

You have to go with what you like and ignore other people and their opinions as everyone has a view on names.

Looking forward to the announcement!

mandyc66 · 25/07/2005 14:07

mandyc66 · 25/07/2005 14:09
