Hi everyone I'm new here!

Just wanted to see what you thought of Scirocco for a girl? I am aware it is a VW, but the name came first! Apparently it is Italian for warm breeze.

Personally I love it, but that doesn't mean it doesn't sound ridiculous!

TIA!

What language does Socorro mean help in?

seeker · 19/02/2010 14:03

Ah, in Spanish.

But it's not a name - it's a word!

ChynaDoll2006 · 19/02/2010 14:04

Portuguese and Spanish, according to some websites. I haven't heard of the English word succour before, but that is the translation. Means help or assistance in time of difficulty.

It's a wind, isn't it? Like the Mistral? I don't associate it with a warm breeze. Have a look on wiki

I'm not sure if I like it as a name or not tbh. What about Zephyr if you fancy something weather-related?

hocuspontas · 19/02/2010 14:21

Weather-related?

How about Raine, Claudia or Gail?

mathanxiety · 19/02/2010 14:24

How about the Spanish name Socorro (means 'help' or 'aid')

mathanxiety · 19/02/2010 14:26

Sorry, x posted. It's popular in Hispanic circles in the US.

If you think it's a good name for a child, I suggest you don't have any.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 19/02/2010 18:35

Ooooh, harsh SoupDragon !

SoupDragon · 19/02/2010 18:41

Yes, I know and I did think that as I clicked post . I do kind of stand by it though, having been teased mercilessly for my stupid name at school.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 19/02/2010 18:43

Is your name SoupDragon then ? No wonder ....

SoupDragon · 19/02/2010 18:47

No, Dragon is my married name. My maiden name is Erdouper
