Now I know all the nn's for Elizabeth but just interested on the general opinion.

So my question is, if you had an Elizabeth what would be your favourite nn/shortening?

Mine's is Lizzie, DP is Beth so for this reason we can't agree on this name.

Libby. Fab name

I know an Elisabeth shortened to Lisa but she is Scandanavian.

LouIsOnAHighwayToHell · 15/01/2010 13:56

All the Elizabeths I have known have had names shortened to:
Liz
Lizzie
Beth
Lisbet
Liza
Ellie
ZaZa

LouIsOnAHighwayToHell · 15/01/2010 13:57

oh and Libby

twolittlemonkeys · 15/01/2010 13:57

Libby or even Ellie for me.

Lancelottie · 15/01/2010 13:57

My brother decided on Beth.
His DD decided on Lizzie.
She won!

Hulababy · 15/01/2010 13:58

Beth

randomimposter · 15/01/2010 13:59

used to like Lizzy, now prefer Betsy or probably best of all Bess

timelordvictorious · 15/01/2010 14:00

I love Bess, and Libby is fab too. Ultimately your DD will decide though - in my experience the nickname everyone at school thinks is cool when she's ten will be the one that sticks!

thisisyesterday · 15/01/2010 14:01

Betty

birdofthenorth · 15/01/2010 14:02

Bess, Bessie or Elsie are my faves

SleighGirl · 15/01/2010 14:04

Buffy (pet name for the Queen Mother)

Dd is called Bets but her name is not Elizabeth, not sure where it came from really .

WhoIsAsking · 15/01/2010 14:07

or Simon

thesteelfairy · 15/01/2010 14:07

Oh and her middle name is Libby.

Why didn't I just call her Elizabeth? .

AutomatedAlice · 15/01/2010 14:11

In mid-pregnancy madness (and half-joking) I suggested to DH that we call DD Elizabeth and give her the nickname Buffy. He didn't think it was a good idea

MamaLazarou · 15/01/2010 14:11

Betty! Betty is a cool and glamorous name.

Iklboo · 15/01/2010 14:11

at Buffy being Queen Mum's pet name. Bet she kicked royal vampire ass!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 15/01/2010 14:11

Eliza, no doubt - was my choice for DC2 but he was a boy!
Possibly would have gone straight for Eliza though.

ThisIsMyDanceSpace · 15/01/2010 14:13

Eliza. I considered this for DD2

Iklboo · 15/01/2010 14:16

My nan was known as Bette, Iza or Lal
