Alice.... was my chosen name if i had had a girl!!

GrumpyFish · 06/01/2010 14:04

Not Nola. Rest lovely. If pressed would pick Alice or Rosie.

OrangeAnge · 06/01/2010 14:06

I think they are all very good names!

Alice is on my list too and has been discussed on the thread 'a very short shortlist...'

I think Nola and Clara are the most unusual, there will be lots of other Rosies, Marthas and Alices if that makes any diffrence to you?

Good choices and good luck making the decision!

mathanxiety · 06/01/2010 14:43

Alice, Nola or Clara. I love them all, but Nola is the most unusual.

StrawberriesandCherries · 06/01/2010 14:46

Love Rosie and Martha!

LaTristesse · 06/01/2010 14:46

I like Clara best. Not keen on Nola...

liliputlady · 06/01/2010 16:38

Rosie and Clara are my favourites

MummyTumble · 06/01/2010 16:39

Martha is my favourite...

UnrequitedSkink · 06/01/2010 16:41

Nola is slang for New Orleans, so not sure about that. I only know because I have a friend who moved there recently and it seems to come up a lot in their emails/fb updates. But it's what I immediately thought of.

I like Clara and Alice best.

MamaLazarou · 06/01/2010 16:47

I like Nola, because it's the most unusual on your list. Alice is nice, but a bit overdone. Clara makes me think of a cartoon cow.

mathanxiety · 06/01/2010 17:02

Twas a lovely city though, and I don't think the connection to New Orleans would be immediately apparent to most in Britain.

StillCounting · 06/01/2010 17:05

Love Alice and Martha

smother · 06/01/2010 21:39

do you think Clara is going to become as popular as Rosie/Martha/Alice? I've heard it around a fair bit on MN recently

Love Martha

Heated · 06/01/2010 21:42

In order:

  1. Alice
  2. Clara
  3. Martha
4= Rosie/Nola
KeyOui · 06/01/2010 22:02

I love Martha and Clara - both names which are pretty but you could be taken seriously with too.

Rosie is twee and little girly imo, not keen at all.

Alice is nice, it's very safe but nothing special.

Nola is odd, it sounds like a shortened form of the name Nolene! Not good...

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 06/01/2010 22:06

Rosie - Agree that it's twee. Would use Rosalind or (better) Rosamund with Rosie as a nickname only up to the age of 5.
Martha - Lovely but very much in vogue now.
Alice - Lovely but very much in vogue now.
Nola - Don't like it.
Clara - Like this too.

pointydig · 06/01/2010 22:10

Clara is lovely

piscesmoon · 06/01/2010 22:20

Not Nola
I would have Rosie as shortened form and use Rosalind or similar.
I think Clara is going to be very popular but it is nice.
