We're drowning in suggestions so if anyone has a standout favourite Italian girl's name, please tell me what it is!!

Francesca

DD's middle name. I love it.

paulaplumpbottom · 30/12/2009 21:05

Consuala? I'm not sure how its spelled

HeadFairy · 30/12/2009 21:08

Can't do Lucia as it's dh's sisters name (and ds is Luca, could be really odd)

Francesca is on our short list, it's really nice.

Giovanna is one of my faves, but dh isn't keen.

Elsa doesn't really do it for me, neither does Consuela.

Alessandra or Lucia. Also like Aurelia.

Pinner35 · 30/12/2009 21:08

I love Alessandra and Sophia.

What does everyone think of Chiara? dh and I both like it, but we're worried it'll be mispronounced and end up sounding more like Kiera, or even Kia-ora (am I the only one old enough to remember that stuff?)

Are you italian or live in Italy? I wouldn't have a clue how to pronounce it....

oopsandbabycoconut · 30/12/2009 21:14

I like Chiara - but think the spelling would stump most people.

Aurora (pronounced ow rora)
Aurelia
Allegra
Venetia
Alessandra

were on our list for DD

We went very out there with her name though so those are all still available should DC2 turn out to be a girl - Aurelia is our fav though.

choosyfloosy · 30/12/2009 21:15

Chiara is beautiful. It WILL be mispronounced so you might have to just swallow that. TBH every single name is mispronounced sometimes - I was when ds's name was first pronounced differently as it's a single syllable!

Personally I love Alessia and Gabriella. I also like Daniela.

crumpet · 30/12/2009 21:16

Allegra is very pretty

BelleDameSansMerci · 30/12/2009 21:18

Is Portia Italian or just Shakespearian? Anyway I really like it.

Love Santa, Rafaella, Gabriella.

cupofteaplease · 30/12/2009 21:19

I like Chiara.

But my favoutite is Viviana, and it can be shorteded to the cute Vivi!(Vee-vee)

boodleboot · 30/12/2009 21:20

MmeLindt · 30/12/2009 21:21

Chiara is lovely, I think I know how to pronounce it. Key-a-ra?

bourboncreme · 30/12/2009 21:22

I like Valentina or Giulia or Viola.

Good luck and congratulations on you baby girl

Ilove, our families are Italian on both sides, but we live in England. Do have an Italian surname though... it's pronounced kee-ah-rah (I think it's Italian for Clare - it certainly means the same - clear)

I have a cousin called Viviana, she's such a drippy hippy I couldn't bear the associations

I like Allegra too but dh has vetoed it saying it's too posh!

Not sure about Portia being Italian, but it's a cool name - dh would probably say it's too posh! DS loves Porsche cars so he wouldn't have any complaints!
