What do you think of Angela as a girl's name? It's listed on Mumsnet's Baby Name Finder.

nope.

KristinaM · 29/12/2009 12:18

i think its due to come back into fashion

displayuntiltwelfthnight · 29/12/2009 12:18

prefer Verity
Angela seems a bit dated IMO

howardsland · 29/12/2009 12:19

Is this ready for a comeback yet? I've not had good feedback from those I've confided in so far.

I did know a nice Angela in my sixth form if that helps

MitchyInge · 29/12/2009 12:22

I like it, know a lovely one

Ondine · 29/12/2009 12:28

It's very dated and I don't think it's due a comeback for about 30 years.

Angelica or Angelina much nicer imo.

FoxyRevenger · 29/12/2009 12:31

I think it seems quite dated, and would be worried she would end up being called Angie or Ange

glasgal · 29/12/2009 12:36

bit old-fashioned, makes me think of "my so-called life", really dont like angie- v eastenders

MamaLazarou · 29/12/2009 12:37

It's lovely. I like it a lot.

MrsSawdust · 29/12/2009 12:44

I think it's lovely but I would consider Angelica, only because it's a more modern twist.

tispity · 29/12/2009 13:18

i like the fact that it is really uncommon now. i like angelique or even angel more though

I have one

She is only 1 and is an 'Angie'

Have not met another the same age which is great IMO

claraquack · 29/12/2009 13:31

I have a lovely friend called Angela so am biased in favour of it but she is known as Ange so not sure if that would put me off! Angel is nice though?

tethersjinglebellend · 29/12/2009 13:31

Hate 'Angelica' et al though...

tethersjinglebellend · 29/12/2009 13:36

Mine is often referred to as 'The Ange'.

I have only ever known one Angela and she was such a lovely lady - she was I suppose middle-aged when I knew her, and I was at primary school. It has nice connotations for me. Maybe PP is right and it is due for a revival?

hairyclaireyfairy · 29/12/2009 14:56

I like it, could be shortened to Annie

tethersjinglebellend · 29/12/2009 15:01

Second thoughts, I don't want a revival so NO.

I hate it

zozzle · 02/01/2010 22:18

Not keen

AngeG · 02/01/2010 22:43

Love it! It's a great name

Having said that I hate being called Angie, because of Eastenders.

lilolilmanchester · 02/01/2010 22:49

I wouldn't use it personally cos don't like any of the Angelas I know, but that is the only reason. Think it's very pretty name in itself

ChippingIn · 03/01/2010 04:08

It's too 70's boring for my liking (sorry, don't want to offend any Angelas!!)...
