What do people think of Eloise?

Hi,
I've been thinking of some girl's names to go with a Thomas and really like Eloise - but having looked it up on the web I think it may be a little old-fashioned?
What are people's opinions?
Thanks

I think it's lovely

liliputlady · 16/12/2009 22:30

It's pretty - I know a few who get called Ellie. I really love the name Louise, and it seems to be quite underused.

Heated · 16/12/2009 22:37

It's my niece's name and fairly on trend.

Prefer Louisa personally but Eloise is still pretty.

imaginewittyfestivenamehere · 16/12/2009 22:39

Lovely (is dd2's middle name)

GrimmaTheNome · 16/12/2009 22:41

Lovely.
(Louisa is nice too)

ravenAK · 16/12/2009 22:42

It's a lovely name.

MissGreatBritain · 16/12/2009 22:43

Love it. Love Elise as well. And Elsie. I think I just like those letters in any combination.

jemart · 16/12/2009 22:47

I've only ever met one Eloise, so definitely unusual. I'm not 100% sure I like it though.

lowrib · 16/12/2009 23:01

Lovely name. I also like Elodie.

diddl · 17/12/2009 08:10

I love it-and Elise.

HelewiseWoolf · 17/12/2009 08:55

Agree is on-trend. Not at all unusual being just outside the top 100.
I think it's okay, though I love Heloise and think this is far preferable.

Bucharest · 17/12/2009 08:58

I like it, although I prefer Elise.

Milkmade · 17/12/2009 09:04

I wanted this, but dh veto-ed on the grounds of the song...

brimfull · 17/12/2009 09:06

I used to like it but itis quite common for it to be shortened to ellie which is a shame.
I have gone off it .

bamboo · 17/12/2009 09:16

I love it and considered it when pregnant with dc3 but we seem to know so many Ellies/Ellens/Ellas so dismissed it on the grounds that they all seemed a bit too similar.

MistletoeMonster · 17/12/2009 09:25

Nice

Pineapplechunks · 17/12/2009 09:27

Really like it, very pretty, it was on my list for DD.

crumpette · 17/12/2009 10:04

I think it's a very pretty name although I did know a highly irritating one so I vetoed it myself when having DD..but that aside I really like it

bellissima · 17/12/2009 10:08

The Damned saved the name from the ickyprettiness of 'Elodie' 'Aurelie' et al...go for it.

Rafi · 17/12/2009 10:13

I like Eloise, I'd be tempted to use the whole thing instead of shortening - there ARE so many Ellies!

Gargula · 17/12/2009 15:57

Hello!
Thanks everyone! Generally seems a well liked name then.
I ran it past my husband last night and he didn't say "no" - which surprised me a little as he's very conventional with names so it may be a "goer".
I love that song by "The Damned" and is part of the reason I think it's such a lovely name - wont tell DH that though as he may not be so keen about my musical past!
Love Elodie as well....hmmmm
Thanks again!

Love Eloise, Elodie and Louisa......if only it weren't for DH

Bonsoir · 17/12/2009 16:59

Louisa is really lovely.

doubleexpresso · 17/12/2009 17:58

Don't want to burst your bubble, but it's a bit chav-tastic round here ...
