Help naming friend's due baby (sex unknown, name beginning with K)

My friend is 38 weeks and still hasn't decided on possible names for the baby. Her and her DP do not yet know the sex of the baby and already have one girl called Kadey.

After my raving about MN, she has left me with the challenge of asking you all to help with name suggestions.

All she has given me is that the name should preferably begin with K and it should be unusual, but not weird.

So - any suggestions please?

Difficult, as I wouldn't have chosen Kadey myself and don't love any names that start with K....

What names does your friend like?

bluebump · 08/12/2009 20:11

Kiera
Kelly
Kayleigh
Kimberly/Kim

Kieran
I can't think of any other boys names off the top of my head apart from Kevin and Keith!

erm...

VengefulKittyInTheManger · 08/12/2009 20:16

She has liked Kiera for a girl but has ruled it out.

Strangely, the name she does come back to is my suggestion of Darcy, but again, she would really like to go with a K.

She has also ruled out Kai due to the Rooney's and on account of how common it has become.

Bluebump - the names you suggest would be too 'normal' for her :S

It is hard to think of anything isn't it?!

ARGH!

My baby boy is Sky/Skyler (not K I know, but it has a K in it ). AM on a mission to make it popular!

boys:
Kerim
Kenan (Turkish boys names)
Kaiden/Kaden (been mentioned on here a few times)
ANything starting with a hard C that can be 'mispelt' - eg Casper/Kasper

girls:
Kaya
Mackenzie (again, doesn't have K but has same 'feel)
Kendra (vaguely remember this from a Paula Danzigar book?)

MrsMattie · 08/12/2009 20:29

I know a little girl called Kaiyana (pronounced Ky-ah-na).

I like the name Kaya / Kaia.

frakkinaroundthechristmastree · 08/12/2009 20:30

Kazimir for a boy

frakkinaroundthechristmastree · 08/12/2009 20:33

And Killian for a boy too.

PeedOffWithNits · 08/12/2009 20:33

kathleen - can be shortened to katie/Kate/Kathy when young and be a proper grown up name if she wants it to be later (mind you Katie and Kadey are too samey)

Kaddy-lee (our weather girls name), then again, too samey

Klo-ee (i kid you not, I have seen that on the wall at a nursery!!)

personally i would opt for a different initial though, as lots of mail to Miss K Surname later on will be confusing as to who it is for, have never understood the matching initials thing myself

VengefulKittyInTheManger · 08/12/2009 20:34

Cor - that's a list Hula!

Thanks all, I shall email her a link to this thread and make her read it!

Please keep coming with suggestions!
