Reuben is a beautiful name. I prefer it.

I love reuben too, but not sure if its a bit on the increase of popularity, not that it concerns me hugely, but I don't want this boy to be toooooo common in name, esp as when we had DD we had no clue about names, went with one we loved, only to find out, everyone else loved it too

Just to confuse you there is also Ceiron which is a Welsh name and pronounced K-ron/Kayron. Sorry no help at all but do like Reuben -.

Oh Reuben is a great name, prefer it to Ciaran.

I don't like it when it's pronounced kier-n, it should be kier-on, and no-one would ever pronounce it properly.

My cousin's little boy is Kieran. I know a grown up Kieran as well. I like it.

I love Diarmuid as well. Reuben too.

I also know a Kiran as it works as an Indian/English name spelt that way.

Ciaran is gaelic adn Kieran is the anglicisation of that.

nmsaa = not my style at all. It's what polite Americans say instead of 'eurgh that's disgusting'. Means the same though.

If you were going to spell Ciaran in Cornish it would be Kyran - but then it would be pronounced more like "Kirran". Just thought I would throw that in there!

motherof2boys I was being a little there regarding the spelling of Reuben. I think Rubin is possible scandinavian/german though? I would definitely spell it Reuben.

We have, on balance, after this thread decided we will not be naming our child Keiron/Keiran/Ciaran or any variations of. We would defintely be having to correct spelling or pronunciations all the time.

But...i do quite like the cornish verson...Kyran, pronounced Kirran, but no, we shall probably not go down that route.

Back to our list at this rate, he will just be called Porkpie/Baby boy/Brother

Actually, we had sort of considered Elliot. Just, well, i know i have not met him yet, but with him being inside me all this time, he does not feel like an Elliot.
