Alfie...very very popular (top 5?), abit 'babyish' for a man, too trendy, prefer strong abbreviated names like Sam, Zac, Max etc than 'ie' endings.

Evie...again very popular but nice. Surely this will be number one name next year, out of 5 local babies 3 are Evie and 2 Isabelle. I prefer Eva or Eve or even Evangeline with Evie as nn.

both georgous!

Rindercella · 09/11/2009 16:02

I like both, but they are quite popular round these parts.

MamaLazarou · 09/11/2009 16:05

Evie if too popular for my taste, I am afraid, and Alfie just sounds like a cheeky East-End barrow-boy in a flat cap. Sorry doll!

MamaLazarou · 09/11/2009 16:06

IS not IF. Durrr...

bellissima · 09/11/2009 21:47

Know umpteen of both. Including an Evie Brown! (she's very cute tho')

MistergodthisisSal · 09/11/2009 22:02

Not too keen on Alfie, but like Evie. Also like Eva as an alternative. If Eva, I like Eva Sophia or Eva Catherine, not sure if it goes with Evie though.

Rafi · 09/11/2009 22:05

Alfie as a short for Alfred maybe, but it doesn't feel like an adult name in itself.

I know a dachshund called Alfie & that probably colours my view though!

mathanxiety · 10/11/2009 01:42

Join the throng.

scarlettblue · 10/11/2009 01:56

I have an Eva Marigold who is nicknamed Evie. Its a lovely name.

I would put Eva/Eve/Evangeline on the birth certificate though, just so she has a 'grown up' name to use in later life if she wishes.

Paddington ? Seriously, think Megan Brown and Isaac Brown have a good ring to them. What about Megan Kate Brown or Isaac Daniel Brown ?

nomorebooze · 10/11/2009 14:32

Much prefer Jacob or Isaac to Alfie.
And megan to evie....but love Eva

jellybeans · 13/11/2009 20:07

Jacob and Megan are great names. Millie is so popular at the moment.

PoppyIsApain · 13/11/2009 20:18

I think they are both lovely names I really love Evie

clam · 13/11/2009 20:35

Evie: lovely.

A;fie: Don't do it! Sorry, but every Alfie I've come across so far has been a naughty little tyke.

VaginaShmergina · 13/11/2009 20:39

clam.....lol !!

My DS is Alfie and our surname is Brown nomorebooze !! Excellent choice of name btw !!

ShowOfHands · 13/11/2009 20:44

I don't think you could come up with more popular names if you tried! Nowt wrong with popular. They're popular for a reason but with Alfie and Evie, I've stopped hearing them as lovely names and just think 'oh another one'.

BikeRunSki · 13/11/2009 22:05

Both names very very popular round here (SW Yorkshire), as many others have said. But popular because they are good names. I'd be tempted to go for Alfred or Evelyn and abbreviate.

persephoneplum · 14/11/2009 12:27

Very now, very predictable. Nice enough nicknames but I would never use them as full names.

DitaVonCheese · 14/11/2009 16:48

Isn't Eva Brown a really bad idea?

They are both nice but agree with others that they're very popular at the mo - if that doesn't bother you then go for it

nighbynight · 14/11/2009 17:44

Agree, would steer clear of Eva Brown. But maybe that won't be so relevant when she's grown up?
