The more I think about it, the more I like this name for a DD, if this baby (due in spring) happens to be one. It sits nicely alongside DS's name, and goes with their surname. However, the Unity Mitford association is a big reason not to use it, and I am just wondering what people think about that aspect.

Me too Jamandjerusalem! Decca is my favourite too and I am desperate to go to Chatsworth to get close to Debo.

I completely fail to get the Mitford worship thing; they all seemed to be pretty unpleasant one way and another. Wildly successful at self-publicity though, so maybe that explains it...

Not nice, sorry

i love it; there was a Unity at school and I have always liked the name. Bit of a brave choice but why not.

Most certainly do not use this name. It screams Nazi.

I never heard of Unity as a name before (I am foreign, is that my get-out card?).
But it means 'One' in mathematics.
And is quite common as an industrial/business name.
I think there's much better to choose from.

Mitford aside, I like the connations of Unity... although judging from the responses here it's clearly a divisive not unifying name, which is ironic!

Bessie123 · 27/10/2009 16:06

the name has Nazi connotations to me, too
