Is it a good solid timeless name, or is it yummy-mummy hipster? ..like Dexter et al?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I absolutely adore it and wish I had called DS Hector I mean I like DS's name and everything but a year after he was born it struck me that I should have called him Hector.

The only slight catch (for me a consolation) is with diminutives.

I mean what do you say ...

Heck?

I really like it but when we went to the panto a couple of years back, a little boy called on stage was asked his name and when he said Hector all the children in the audience laughed . This was in Richmond too where I'd expect there to be lots of slightly unusual names.

Hector - lovely, reminds me of the ancient story of Troy

Dexter - nice but reminds me of Press Gang (showing my age)
