I admit it, I am a bit of a ponce. Considering that, any help with a boys name? We have Charles Lawrence XXXXXXX, our surname is pretty plain.

Have our girls name but struggling for a boy, so far we like,

Rupert
Hugo
Montgomery
Wilbur
Wilfred

We can't have names beginning with B as our surname begins with a J and Thomas, William and Henry are all out.

Any suggestions appreciated!

I have a Miles already and badly wanted a Hugo but it never came about

When pregnant with DS2 our list was short and sweet:

Hugo
Jasper
Inigo
Rufus
Rupert
Guy

AvadaKedavra · 14/09/2009 16:44

Edward is my current favourite boys name

Of your list Hugo is my favourite.

mathanxiety · 14/09/2009 16:48

Wilbur was the name of that pig in Charlotte's Web -- sounds a bit American, imo. Hugo is the nicest on your list. Suggest Ivo?

Cies · 14/09/2009 16:57

Ralph/Raef?

Edgar

Edmund

Wow, I love the support for my inner ponce!!! Some just fantastic names on here!!

Nappy - thanks for such a comprehensive list - so glad you put Herbert in - I adore the idea of a little Herbie or Bertie running about!

Lynette - Thanks

Thell - I do loooooooove to plan!! Convinced this bump will be a boy because we are just stuffed for names.

All - really appreciate all the names - very very helpful!!

We have decided that if we have a girl she will be Penelope Charlotte Elizabeth or Penelope Rose Elizabeth.

Thats nice, will she be Penny?

Momdeguerre · 14/09/2009 17:25

Probably but maybe a Poppy or Nell depending on what suits her .

Really like that she would have lots of options.

I love Penelope. I think a Penelope could also be a Polly. It's a versatile name

Momdeguerre · 14/09/2009 17:59

I love our girls name but I think that this probably means we are destined for another boy but I will be delighted with either!

Penelope is lovely with nelly for short.

How's about Barnaby for a boy?

Momdeguerre · 15/09/2009 11:31

I love Barnaby and lots of names beginning with b but since my surname begins with a J I am a bit worried his initials will lead him to be teased!

electra · 15/09/2009 11:35

Victor

nappyaddict · 15/09/2009 11:35

Definitely go for Penny or Nell. There are way too many Poppy's around now.

I wondered if I'd written too many names. I always annoy people on here by writing really large lists of names so I try to cut them down but they still end up really long

electra · 15/09/2009 11:36

Yes, BJ is a definite no no imo...

Momdeguerre · 15/09/2009 11:45

Nappy - not at all annoyed - most helpful!! Agree about the popularity of Poppy - hoping that by choosing a name that has loads of different nicknames any DD might be able to choose one that suits her.

Poncey boy names that I like are:
Aloysius
Inigo
Ferdinand
Cymbeline
is Llewellyn poncey?

cyteen · 15/09/2009 12:14

Shame you can't have B, otherwise you could have had Balthazar.

Snowtiger · 15/09/2009 17:12

Ooh I love Monty, Inigo and Ferdinand. I'm pg with DC2 and if it's a boy it's already decided he's going to be Wilfred (known as Wilf) in honour of an old family friend.
Rupert's great too - or how about Rufus?
Others on my list that DH has vetoed are
Cassius
Kaspar
Seth
Saul
Augustus

Love Penny, Polly and Nell as shortened names for Penelope BTW, great choices!

florence2511 · 15/09/2009 17:45

Oh yes, better not go for Barnaby. Your original post did say no B's!!!! I just don't read properly

I also like Victor and Walter

Momdeguerre · 15/09/2009 20:33

I love Casper and Kasper - it does reming me of the friendly ghost but every name has some reference - am sure if we go for Rupert he will get called Bear forever!!

I did wonder if Wilfred was a bit odd but it seems to be pretty popular - I still love it!

DH is warming to Hugo which really is one of my fav names . . . fingers crossed!!

Wattinger · 15/09/2009 20:33

Hugo and Wilf are just great names! I met a little Jago yesterday at a posh friend's party (pronounced jay-go) - a ponce- tastic name if ever I heard one (and I really like it!)

nappyaddict · 15/09/2009 23:38

How about Santiago or Iago for short?
