Well, I have a 4 year old Pearl, so i love that! I also love Daphne - it is a bit of a recent name crush for me, i adore it (dh not so keen though!).
Seraphine is OK too, but the other two are better

There is a little Pearl in dd's extended group of friends and I'm rather shy of using it for this reason, although I do love the name. Dh also not keen at all on Pearl, which is possibly why I love it!!

oooh - that would scratch Pearl for me - i just cant use a name once i have one somewhere in my social circle - no matter how distant.
In that case definately Daphne - ooooooh it is soooooo gorgeous!

Dh loves Daphne, it's his favourite name. Tummytickler, I do feel as though I can't use Pearl for that reason. I don't want a dd to go to a party, nursery etc and not be the only one associated with that name.

Sorry, I wouldn't saddle a child with any of these. I think it's mean to give a baby a way-out name just to make yourself appear avante-garde, impossibly stylish and achingly cool. Too many parents seem to use the naming of their child as a way of making a grand social statement about themselves - can't you just pick a straight-forward nice name that will look appropriate on their CV when they're applying for jobs in 20-odd years time? Seriously, if you were an employer, you'd wonder about some of these kids.

Fair enough if the way-out name is in your family but have a thought for the teenager/adult your adorable baby will become...

Some express thier sensible no nonsnese, don't like to stick out from the crowd personality.
Some express their flamboyant, like to be individual, don't like to conform personality.

I like Pearl and Daphne and think they could both be a strong woman's name. They're not top 10 populairy names, but not far out either. Perfectly good names.

It's the parents that choose the names vanillaice, it has nothing to do with the children, does it. I think most people kind of grow into the names they are given, like shoes.

I also think you should name your child whatever you like. Well, actually, I have seen one or two names that have given me pause, but your choices aren't among them.

But these are not ridiculous names. And the OP knows another child called Pearl, so it's likely that they would fit in her social in-group.
