Maple Rose for a girl. Madness?

I'm not pregnant or anything but I just adore this name if I had another girl one day but something says it's in the same vein as Apple. Thoughts?

Aye.
Barking

MrsBarbaraKingstanding · 17/08/2009 15:35

I'm usually quite traditionalist with names, but quite like this.

Not barking like Apple.

AspasiaManos · 17/08/2009 15:36

Maple is barking.

brimfull · 17/08/2009 15:37

ridiculous
too sappy

boom boom

LovelyTinOfSpam · 17/08/2009 15:45

I'm with mrsbarabara...

Usually hate non-traditional names.

Maple sounds nice though.

MaggieBeauLeo · 17/08/2009 15:49

I quite like it, but I'd be worried she'd be called leaf or syrup.

I really like Mabel though. And I agree, Maple is much nicer than Apple. There is nothing I like about Apple!

MrsBarbaraKingstanding · 17/08/2009 15:52

Being called Apple is like being called Table.

Although I did read Gwenyth paltrow saying the fuss everyone had made you'd think they'd called the child Shithouse. Which me smile amd like her. Momentarily.

MaggieBeauLeo · 17/08/2009 15:54

Did she say that?! A rare flash of humour!

It is like being called Table though. It's just so random somehow. LIke they stuck a pin into the dictionary.

theyoungvisiter · 17/08/2009 15:54

I don't like it. It sounds like Maypole and I can imagine the jokes already.

MrsBarbaraKingstanding · 17/08/2009 15:57

Or like being called Microsoft.

Table or Microsoft which is worse??

MrsBadger · 17/08/2009 15:57

ghastly

JigglyPiggy · 17/08/2009 15:58

The two go together well but people would probably think its ment to be Mable.

Ladyem · 17/08/2009 16:00

Sounds like a clairvoyant at a fairground who'd tell you your future in her crystal ball!! (Sorry!)

Thunderduck · 17/08/2009 16:01

It's awful.

MamaLazarou · 17/08/2009 17:10

Everyone will just think you can't spell Mabel.

PestoMonster · 17/08/2009 17:12

Maple Syrup's better

differentDM · 17/08/2009 17:13

maple's what you pour on pancakes isn't it?

cheesesarnie · 17/08/2009 17:15

maple?????

i agree people will think you cant spell mabel

i dont mind apple.

i had a dream lastnight my dd was called pixie and have been looking at her today thinking actually she'd get away with it.not like the pixie i knew when i was younger who turned into a fairly plump and not very nice(not because she was plump just because she was a twat before i get rahhh comments)it was bit ...umm odd-in a table way.

CarmenSanDiego · 17/08/2009 17:21

Maple is cute. People might assume a Canadian link cos of the maple leaf though.

You pour maple syrup on pancakes... which comes from maple trees. I think tree names are due a comeback anyway.

Rowan, Linden, Holly are all ok. And there are some lesser done ones like Cedar or Tamarix

MadameCastafiore · 17/08/2009 17:22

I would snigger and think you were a bit chavvy.

God, I am judgemental aren't I!

Alarielle · 17/08/2009 17:28

It makes me think of ham.

"This is not just ham. This is Marks and Spencers maple rose ham..."

Jujubean77 · 17/08/2009 19:31

I like it, not chavvy at all just different. She would have to be a brunette stunner though.

chichichien · 17/08/2009 19:47

Not good. It's a child not an ice cream

CarmenSanDiego · 17/08/2009 20:58

How on earth is it chavvy?

BigGobMum · 17/08/2009 21:03

Maple isnt a name; its silly.
