Scooby Doo, and a Daphne at work nicknamed Colonel G'Daphne!

I live in France and am totally immersed in Baroque esthetics. (Alright, I should get a life, right?) Daphne makes me think of all those wonderful seventeenth-century operas which took mythological characters and storylines. In fact my early music teacher's youngest daughter (3 yrs old) is called Daphne and she's quite something!

pollywobbledoodle · 04/08/2009 21:06

daphne in neighbours and daphnia in ponds

Spidermama · 04/08/2009 21:07

Aphids and Scooby Doo.

Nice name though.

HerHonesty · 04/08/2009 21:07

neighbours, but i actually love this name

WesternBelle · 04/08/2009 21:18

This is random I know, but for some reason the name Daphne conjures up a 1940's wartime pretty young lady with red lipstick and that 40's hairdo like Kate Beckinsale's character in Pearl Harbour.

Anyway, I love the name Daphne. It's sweet, elegant, different. I put it in the same "old fashioned yet with modern charm" bracket as Phoebe and Margot.

I think of a lovely teaching assistant who worked at my school who'd do anything for you with a smile. She is now retired .

tambourine · 05/08/2009 11:10

my beautiful delicious dd who's one- ya boo sucks to you granny23...love the name, and greek mythological connection ( liked phoebe but soooooooooooooooooo many of them now) but mostly because it was relatively unused, so should probably put you off really, its horrid and everyone ridicules her..
( also, had a daphne planted for her naming day, very pretty pink and white flowers)

MaElsie · 05/08/2009 12:51

old ladies and a sweetly scented flower

MmeLindt · 05/08/2009 15:27

My dog, the cutest dog you have ever seen.

I actually named her after Daphne Broon, but liked the name as it is common here in French speaking Switzerland so the DC's friends can pronounce it correctly.

Jemima123 · 05/08/2009 16:29

Neighbours, but not necessarily a bad thing?!

nickelbabe · 05/08/2009 16:33
