Sorry to be so blunt in the title.
Araminta is my new love. I just think it is really pretty and not over popular or silly.
My worry is that it is too posh.
What do you think and what are your opinions of the name? Help!

It won't be posh when she is known as Minty. I think Arabella is better, as Bella is much prettier than Minty or Mints.

Very posh but also nice. She will have to own a horse tho.

Yes it is v. posh - and it will seem incongruous unless you have the income, lifestyle and social circle that goes with it.

I love Minty, Araminta though is a bit of a mouthful.

Minty was on my list for dd2 along with Dolly, Queenie, Lettice and Pearl.

But then I was deranged with pregnancy hormones.

I had Celeste (boak) on my pregnancy list - until mercifully I came to my senses.

At pony club, no.
I knew one called Minty Binty.

1dilemma · 30/07/2009 00:11

yes lovely and posh a distant friend has one (a dd called this) and it so suits him and the way he'd like you to believe he is
(agree with octavia etc for sisters too)

not brave enough to use such names

Mintyy · 30/07/2009 00:12

Am quite frankly insulted with all these sneery comments.

Surely its the most faaaaabulous name?

1dilemma · 30/07/2009 00:28

I wasn't sneering it's lovely very feminine I wish I was brave enought to give my kids really classical funky names (not the made up stuff)

The MOONDIAL!!!

Devil's child, devil's child, devil's child... [dance round moondial chanting ad infinitum]

Sorry, that's all totally meaningless unless you remember the TV programme.

You could call her 'Arry' for short rather than 'Minty' ?
