Araminta, is this too posh?

Sorry to be so blunt in the title.
Araminta is my new love. I just think it is really pretty and not over popular or silly.
My worry is that it is too posh.
What do you think and what are your opinions of the name? Help!

I love Arabella too. Prefer the NN Bella to Minty (which reminds me of the Eastenders character!)

Love Araminta, the sound and feel of the name as I say it is dreamy and would be ever so impressed to meet one, I wouldn't be brave enough though and am quite sad about that!

I agree with the others - it IS posh. Up to you if that's a problem or not!

Araminta, Minty. Nope I don't get it. I couldn't say if it's posh, poncy or even neddish as I don't think it has reached us Scots yet. What about Arrianna (don't know how to spell) as a near but not so far out!

Love it. Yes, kind of posh but who cares?
Who gives a toss if others think it's posh? Whole lot of opinionated hot air on here about name choices anyway. And as for those in your circle of friends....Once they know your DD to be a lovely gal, their associations will bef formed around that and not something else. For those on the fringe of her life who cares?
Stick to your guns, not worth compromising with a name that you like less just to conform to the opinions of others.

There used to be a journalist called Minty Clinch, which always made me shudder with a kind of weird horror, for some reason. It just wasn't right iyswim. So I think its acceptability depends a lot on your surname. I have nothing against 'posh' names per se (I have one myself ), but have to admit that I'm a bit resistant to Araminta. It would probably be shortened by all and sundry, though, whether you liked it or not!

I like quite posh, real, trad, English names but Araminta is a bit too much.

Arabella is nicer.

Its pure class darling. What a wonderful choice! Of course you must go for it - I insist.

I quite like it but can't imagine calling a child Araminta. It's in the same box as:
Plum
Cosima
Octavia

All names I like in theory but wouldn't be anywhere near the top of a baby name list.
