At the moment we're leaning toward Alexander James, but is that just a bit dull?
My DH also loves Redd, which IMHO is going too far the other way.
Suggestions welcome!

Hamish
Sholto
Kerr
Callen
Jock
Finlay
Muir

bebesequin · 21/07/2009 21:04

oops forgot Prentice

Fimbo · 21/07/2009 22:47

My dh's name has made it on to a baby list for the first time ever!

Metatron · 21/07/2009 22:51

Kel is nice too.

curlyredhead · 21/07/2009 22:52

Murdo

Is Sholto Scottish? Am off to google it.

MrsEricBana · 21/07/2009 22:52

Ooh, really love Hamish. Angus is good too - very manly! Like Lachlan.

LuLuMacGloo · 21/07/2009 22:55

Murdo.
Struan.
McKenzie.
Keir (subtle political theme going on there!)

Katymac · 21/07/2009 22:55

Douglas

Douglas & Ramsay are (I think-but I could be completely wrong) both towns in the Isle of Mann

Fimbo · 21/07/2009 23:04

Donald

Duncan (love this, it is my ds's middle name)

MrsGokWantstogotoHogwarts · 22/07/2009 23:15

Bruce
Fraser
Thom
James

chubbychipmonk · 24/07/2009 22:36

Lewis
Aaron
Cameron
Finlay (maybe more Irish?)
. . what about Mac/Mc names as first names, ie Macauley? Maclean?

Chunkamatic · 24/07/2009 23:34

Hamish is fantastic - i wish I had a genuine Scottish connection to be able to use it!

Do you mean Redd as in Redmond or just Redd? Is that made up?

Is Ramsay your surname, if so Redd Ramsay sounds like a cartoon character!

CurlyCasper · 26/07/2009 16:29

a few correct, Scottish spellings:

Murdoch (please don't use any 'ck's!)
Fraser
Findlay
Euan, Ewan, Ewen
Rhuaridh (said Rury, like Rory)

Also good strong Scottish names:
Lewis, Logan, Bruce, Duncan, Douglas, Craig, Callum, Scott, Menzies, Grant

All the Mc/Mac names smack a bit of trying to hard to be Scottish. I can't say I grew up alongside a single one

Greensleeves · 26/07/2009 16:35

Ramsay and Rory would be very sweet

Greensleeves · 26/07/2009 16:35

or Ramsay and Robbie

FranSanDisco · 26/07/2009 16:41

Finlay
Struan
Drew
Gray
Alastair

or something more commonplace based on DH's weegie mates Rab, Tam, Wee Wullie.

bevlin · 28/07/2009 15:34

Conall

Apparently very scottish. Being Scottish I know two. The one I have typed, the parents are adament this is the 'proper' scottish spelling. The second is spelt Connell, The parents of this child are also adament this is the 'proper' scottish spelling - one of them is correct!

sausagerolemodel · 28/07/2009 16:00

I think Piper Ramsay sounds great

but also like the three syllable ones

cameron
ferguson
anderson (not really scottish)

I also like Farquhar, and think it goes well with Ramsey but you have the Shrek connection to contend with.....

nippersnappers · 28/07/2009 16:08

Laird seems to quiet popular at the moment.

BlueChampagne · 29/07/2009 13:22

I wondered that too, Fimbo.

Glenn
Kyle
Ben
Robert/Rab - good one Blinks

VenusInfers · 29/07/2009 20:35

Aw, fantastic. So many great suggestions and, best of all, only one vote for Redd! I've now told DH that baby only gets called that if next one can be 'Yelloww'. Tee hee.

Thanks everyone!
