Well, the title says it all really - what do you think of the name Prudence.
I think it ought to be due a revival! Yes? No?
I have a Pearl already (amongst other dc's), do the two 'P's matter?
Would love all opinions, thanks!

Lovely name.

lechatnoir · 16/06/2009 13:36

I definitely don't think two 'P' matter and I think it's a really pretty name that goes well along side Pearl but my only concern would be the nn Prude . What about Constance nn Connie?

Fimbo · 16/06/2009 13:36

Not keen tbh.

tummytickler · 16/06/2009 13:57

lechatnoir - we know 2 Connies already (both Constance) alhtough it is a lovely name we cant use it because of this - we want something a little bit more unusual iyswim!

I don't think two Ps matter at all. Prue is a lovely nn too.

lechatnoir · 16/06/2009 14:04

nn Pru!!! OF COURSE!!!!! Sorry having a blond moment so forget my thoughts about nn Prude!

OrmIrian · 16/06/2009 14:05

Tis my mum's name. She never much liked it but I do. I think Pru is pretty.

suwoo · 16/06/2009 14:06

It wouldn't be one that I would choose, but I think it is fab wth Pearl.

don't like it sorry

Thunderduck · 16/06/2009 14:10

I think it's hideous.

Hoorayhenrietta · 16/06/2009 14:13

I adore Prue, with Prudence being on the birth cert. I don't think two P's matter either...go for it!

annasmami · 16/06/2009 14:16

I love Prudence - think it goes very well with Pearl!

MeAndMyMonkey · 16/06/2009 14:16

Bit prim I think but has good connotations for me re Jilly Cooper, and sweet Beatles song 'Dear Prudence'.

Thunderduck · 16/06/2009 14:19

..presenting baby Prudence. I just cannot imagine a baby prudence. I'm picturing a mini Les Dawson look alike.

Sunshinemummy · 16/06/2009 14:26

Yes I love it. Love The Beatles song too.

Heathcliffscathy · 16/06/2009 14:27

i think it's lovely, old fashioned...but won't be by time dd grows up.

prue is fab.

Heathcliffscathy · 16/06/2009 14:27

do you want her to be called 'careful' though? that's the only bit i have reservations about i guess.

Lovemyshoes · 16/06/2009 14:28

I love it.

Prunes.

That's all I picture.

Not a good image.

FlappyTheBat · 16/06/2009 14:48

Something that Gordon Brown called for when he was Chancellor.

LilRedWG · 16/06/2009 14:50

I think Prudence is a lovely name. WRT two Ps - my sister and I are both Cs and it did annoy her if I opened her post "by mistake".

gagamama · 16/06/2009 16:02

I don't dislike it, but it reminds me of the Prudential insurance company. Plus the potential nicknames of Prude and Dence would put me off.

There are other virtue names ending in -ence which are much nicer, IMO.

LaDiDaDi · 16/06/2009 17:42

I'm not keen on it at all.
