Well, the title says it all really - what do you think of the name Prudence.
I think it ought to be due a revival! Yes? No?
I have a Pearl already (amongst other dc's), do the two 'P's matter?
Would love all opinions, thanks!

It isn't my personal choice but it is fine.

One of DD's friends is called Prudence, with it being shortened to Pru.

It's lovely. Very demure, quite chic, but sweet.

Not keen at all.

It seems such a harsh name for a little girl.

I know a very sweet girl called Prudence (aged 5), but tbh its not my favourite name.

I like it although I'd be constantly singing Dear Prudence in my mind!

Not much help sorry

I don't dislike it, but it reminds me of the Prudential insurance company. Plus the potential nicknames of Prude and Dence would put me off.

There are other virtue names ending in -ence which are much nicer, IMO.

I think Prudence is a lovely name. WRT two Ps - my sister and I are both Cs and it did annoy her if I opened her post "by mistake".

Something that Gordon Brown called for when he was Chancellor.

Prunes.

That's all I picture.

Not a good image.

do you want her to be called 'careful' though? that's the only bit i have reservations about i guess.

i think it's lovely, old fashioned...but won't be by time dd grows up.

prue is fab.

Yes I love it. Love The Beatles song too.

..presenting baby Prudence. I just cannot imagine a baby prudence. I'm picturing a mini Les Dawson look alike.

MeAndMyMonkey · 16/06/2009 14:16

Bit prim I think but has good connotations for me re Jilly Cooper, and sweet Beatles song 'Dear Prudence'.

I love Prudence - think it goes very well with Pearl!

I adore Prue, with Prudence being on the birth cert. I don't think two P's matter either...go for it!
