Mary - boring and common, or unusual and cool

So,
Mary - what do you think? Is it dreadfully dull, boring and massively overused or is it timeless, cute and a little bit cool?

Dh loves it - i think it is lovely, but not exactly 'WOW'.

i think it's a really lovely name i think if you have a "plain" surname it might end up a bit meh but otherwise i'd go for it.

Very unusual I would think. I don't know any Marys outside my grandmother's (possibly great grandmother actually) generation.

By rights it should be coming up with the Rubys and Violets but don't think it is.

Is quite nice.

I quite like it actually. It's not wow that's true, but I also like Nina and Ellen and Anna ...

If somebody else used it I think I'd admire their confidence in their own modest tastes. Cos it's a modest choice and a brave choice and that's quite cool somehow.

The only Marys I know are 60 and 14. My neice is Marianne though - she's 13.

Its my middle name.

It was my grandmothers name. I think if people are considering it cool again then its the timing - grandma was born in 1895 so all the old ladies with that name are gone now, it can start to look appealing for new babies again.

Mary Alice is nice. Not Mary Ellen please she's one of the Waltons!
