I have annoyed everyone over the last few days by filling MN with baby name threads but this is the final one!

Our list is:

Isaac (slight problem as my nephew is called Zak)
Cassius
Cassian
Raphael

We will wait till baby is born to decide but out of interest which one would you pick?

And you can say 'none of them' I wont be offended

Cassian

QuackQuackQuackQuack · 04/04/2009 19:10

Florence - I hadnt considered zac as a nn until I posted on MN and someone pointed it out.

Happybump that is lovely advice

Letthemeatcake - I do love Cassian but after reading this thread DH wasnt so keen as many didnt reconise it. Its a great name though

JackiePaper- not sure what we will shorten it to. One of the things I love about Rapheal is that it can be shortened to so many fab nn's - raffi being one of the best

dh says Cassius is an excellent name. Makes me think of Cassius Clay though (but you can't really call your child Mohammed if you are not Muslim)

I think it has a good sound too. I'd not choose Isaac because of the Isaac/Zac similarities, but that might depend on how close a family you are (I don't think it's an upsetting similarity, just if you have a choice wouldn't go for it). I don't like Raphael too much, but do like Rafe as a nn. Not so keen on Cassian, but just because I like Cassius better.

Of course your surname does have some bearing too!

MommyHasaHeadache · 04/04/2009 19:15

Raphael

screamingabdab · 04/04/2009 19:17

Isaac or Raphael

Phoenix · 04/04/2009 19:51

I like Cassius and Isaac.

What about Ike as a nn for Isaac.

kalo12 · 04/04/2009 19:54

i go to a baby music group , out of 8 babies, four are called isaac! I love Raphael and Cassius is good but a bit doomed.

dogstar · 04/04/2009 19:55

Raphael deffo.

Isaac ever so popular now.

conniedescending · 04/04/2009 20:02

Isaac first choice
then Raphael (although prefrer Reuben)

dont like the other 2 but I do lie Caspar??

nooka · 04/04/2009 20:04

There don't seem to be many famous people named Cassius, apart from the two assassins of Roman emperors (who came to a sticky end, but then who didn't in that era) and Mohammed Ali who decided it was his slave name.

QuackQuackQuackQuack · 04/04/2009 20:10

Casper will always be the ghost to me connie

Likewise Ike always sounds 'Oik' to me. I was wondering if it had to be shortened, why couldn't it just stay as Isaac? Although the level of popularity of Isaac is concerning me. I'm at Kalos stats!!

3 out of 8 were girls, so every boy except one was called isaac!

I think it's worth remembering that Isaac is currently the most poplular name on your list. This means that if you ask a large group their favourite - ie mumsnet, Isaac will come up top.

Doesn't mean it's the best choice for you. Go with what you like best.

FairLadyOfMuslinCloth · 04/04/2009 21:06

Reuben is nice...so are Vernon and Vincent.....

QuackQuackQuackQuack · 04/04/2009 21:09

I like Reuben but I am related to one so not an option.

i would pick Raphael.
but i love the others as well

DiamondHead · 04/04/2009 21:13

I like cassius. I have a thing about 's' ending names.

oliviasmama · 04/04/2009 21:16

Cassius

preggersplayspop · 04/04/2009 21:17

I like Isaac, and Raphael (Raffy, Rafa), though I wouldn't use Raphael myself as I think of it as being more 'European' than I am - ie Rafa Benitez/Nadal. Not keen on the others sorry.

Claire2009 · 04/04/2009 21:18

Isaac, Don't like any of the others.

andirobo · 04/04/2009 21:22

Only like Issac, as it can be shortened to Zak, even if had another family member with same name.

Dont like the others at all. Only similar sounding one in DH family is Kasper. Thought it odd at first, but mother is swedish, but grows on you!

RachieB · 04/04/2009 22:42

I love Cassian and Isaac

QuackQuackQuackQuack · 05/04/2009 00:28

Thats what I'm worrrying about, not being 'european' enough for raphael
