I like Indigo - wouldnt use it though

River - no way

HecAteTheEasterBunny · 04/04/2009 10:35

not for me, but I am sure the parents love the names. I bet they're those free spirity types

Takver · 04/04/2009 10:41

You live in the wrong (or maybe the right?) place. Neither seems odd to me, know both child and adult examples of both.

RachieB · 04/04/2009 10:50

Indigo is ok
River not so keen but heard worse

nevergoogledragonbutter · 04/04/2009 10:52

i like them.
i wanted to call ds1 river, but was too worried about other peoples reactions back in those days.

LetThemEatCake · 04/04/2009 10:53

I know a few girls called Indigo, pretty name. Like River too. And the two go well together.

They do immediately conjure up the image of free-spirits, creative, unconventional family etc. Which is no bad thing.

Actually I like the names River and Joaquin but since dd is called Phoenix, that would just be daft.

QuackQuackQuackQuack · 04/04/2009 11:04

Love Phoenix

geordieminx · 04/04/2009 11:18

I love Pheonix too, its the first time I have actually thought about it as a name.

Ex-dp wanted to call any daughter that we had Storm which I hate

LetThemEatCake · 04/04/2009 11:30

thanks QQQ and geordie - some charmer on here the other night said that my kids' names were 'fucking dreadful"

hey ho.

I know a Tatiana Storm. Sounds chavvy but the family are dead posh so who knows. It's a fine line sometimes I think

ilovesprouts · 04/04/2009 11:32

one of my mates who lives in wales has got 3 kids caled breeze brackern and fern !!

QuackQuackQuackQuack · 04/04/2009 11:33

Tatiana is a lovely name, instantly think of midsummer nights dream

nevergoogledragonbutter · 04/04/2009 11:37

i like bracken and fern.

i'm not so into storm and breeze. all sounds a bit windy to me.

geordieminx · 04/04/2009 11:43

Letthemeatcake Thats really nasty. I think its a lovely girls name, I think you can get away with more unusual girls names, boys names should be a bit "safer" IYKWIM?

My ds is Charlie, its the most unusual name dp would agree to... on his list were "Steven" "David" "Lynsey" "Sarah"... which, dont get me wrong are fine, as names go, but all remind me of people I went to school with in the 80's

I could have picked any name of any liverpool player past or present too.... Rafa, Gerrard, Alonso.

OP posts:
QuackQuackQuackQuack · 04/04/2009 11:46

Talking of Rafa have you all seen my Raphael thread?

KinderEggKayzr · 04/04/2009 11:46

I love Indigo and I really want to use it if we have a DD.

Letthemeatcake, Phoenix is a beautiful name. I also love Joaquin.

Wigglesworth · 04/04/2009 11:48

Don't like em, bit out there IMO, I'm not keen on really unusual names TBH. My DS is Sean Joseph, if he had been a girl he would have been Chloe Louise or Ashleigh Rae.

LetThemEatCake · 04/04/2009 12:01

David" "Lynsey" "Sarah" are my dh, my sister and me!!!

in defence of the poster who said that my kids' names were fucking dreadful, I was at the time toying with the idea of Zephyrus for current pregnancy, if a boy - so she was slightly justified in thinking that I had no taste

What can I say - it was late, and my hormones are raging.

geordieminx · 04/04/2009 12:04

Sorry

RachieB · 04/04/2009 12:08

I like Bracken and Fearne

I know a Phoenix but it's a boy! called Nix most of the time

Wallace · 04/04/2009 12:09

you've been watching cbeebies

changer22 · 04/04/2009 12:11

I know a boy called Indigo and one called Phoenix. No one bats an eyelid round these parts.

I know a John too. That raised eyebrows!

LetThemEatCake · 04/04/2009 12:11

geordie- not at all!! I agree - very ordinary names, nice in their way but not special.

If I loved names like that, would not have called mine Star, Phoenix and Cassian! And would not be contemplating Zephaniah and Zacchaeus!

(please bear in mind, Star is the name of our child who was born before term and did not make it. I would not give that name to a living child, but I think it is lovely for an angel baby)

QuackQuackQuackQuack · 04/04/2009 12:35

I also love cassian

louisejohnson87 · 04/04/2009 16:49

I know a Dragon and an Axel (brothers!)

I was also wathcing a vet programme this morning and one of the vet's sons was called Tiger!
