That ex eastenders actress has a little girl called Blossom, the one who was with Billy....forget her name.

honeydew · 03/04/2009 13:32

I really like flower names but not 'Petal'.

It's not a name at all is it?

Great and cute I suppose for 2 year old, bloody awful for a 32 year old! Poor girl!

It's nearly but not quite as bad as 'Apple'.

These celebrities- honestly! The baby names are getting sillier by the year.

Bettymum · 03/04/2009 13:33

I call DD Petal as a nickname. Would never have NAMED her Petal. It suits her as a nickname though, it's sweet and so is she

moshie · 03/04/2009 13:48

I thought this was one of those joke troll threads, I was looking forward to having a laugh. Horrendous!

MakemineaGandT · 03/04/2009 13:50

I was expecting an Iris or a Lily if they had another girl. Petal just too twee.

What next for the next one - perhaps Pollen or Stamen.

flooziesusie · 03/04/2009 13:52

I like it - although Jamie Oliver with drop the 't' and it will sound awful...

EnterStageLeft · 03/04/2009 13:53

As a name I love it. I think it's really pretty and gives off a beautiful vibe. The names are individually lovely and go together nicely.

Having said that though, I don't think I would want to be called it.

bettany · 03/04/2009 13:55

I think Petal is a lovely name. It's really pretty.

preggersplayspop · 03/04/2009 13:57

Didn't they change Petal's name to Janet in Eastenders?

MrsMerryHenry · 03/04/2009 14:00

What if the poor girl decides she wants to be a barrister? Or a judge? The Rt Hon Petal Blossom?

thell · 03/04/2009 14:02

Do you remember that American teenie sit-com of the nineties, 'Blossom' ? The girl who started the craze for those hats that fold up at the front?

LadyOfWaffle · 03/04/2009 14:03

Petal... hmmm, at a push

Blossom... biiig push , definatly not with Petal

Rainbow is awful IMO. Why do slebs choose such bizarre names?

Iklboo · 03/04/2009 14:09

Petal Blossom Rainbow Oliver????
Petal Oliver?
What's wrong with Stamen Fruit Thundercloud?

MannyMoeAndJack · 03/04/2009 15:48

Petal = 'you awright pe'al?'
Rainbow = zippy

Blossom = quite like this, the best of the the three names IMO but then again, if they'd chosen Blossom as the main name, then the baby's initials could've been reduced to B.O.

hoppybird · 03/04/2009 16:14

They could have called her Olive. ;)

Kathyis6incheshigh · 03/04/2009 16:21

Iklboo - Stamen Fruit Thundercloud is a boy's name. Duh!

pranma · 03/04/2009 16:36

The others are Poppy and Daisy I think.
The new one would have been better as Lily or Rosie or some other real name.Petal is a general term of affection where I live!

MerryMarigold · 03/04/2009 17:12

Even the writers of Fifi and the Flowertots would not give any character THAT name.

Sometimes I don't much care for 'interesting' names like Apple or Fifi Trixabelle (or whatever it is), but kind of admire them for being a bit different/ standing out. But this is just seriously NAFF.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/04/2009 17:44

poor child

you have to be so careful with names

a baby may be cute as petal

but on a grown 35yr its stupid

have a nice first name and if need be have silly 2nd and 3rd names such as blossom/rainbow etc

i once babysit for a rainbow - parents were hippies, and child didnt have to go to bed, i never babysat there again

and yes i love the name esme

RachieB · 03/04/2009 17:47

Poppy & Daisy together are almost too much

but add a Petal to the mix

euch, waaaaay OTT IMO,esp with Jamie Olivers accent?!

JeMenFous · 03/04/2009 17:48

Fecking stupid name, (imho)

VeryAnnieMary · 03/04/2009 18:06

Poor girl will never be Prime Minister with a name like that. IMHO.

Esme is pretty.

Littlepurpleprincess · 03/04/2009 18:16

How do you pronounce Esme?

cupofteaplease · 03/04/2009 18:17

I like Petal and Blossom, but not keen on Rainbow- is a bit too 'out there.' Equally, I'm not sure all 3 names flow well together.

Each to their own though. I was expecting their third dd to be called Lily, actually.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/04/2009 18:20

esme

prenounced as

ez then me
