I think it sounds quite fresh and sweet but am I just kidding myself?

You're kidding yourself.

It's one of my most hated names. I don't think it sounds at all nice.

muggglewump · 01/04/2009 00:09

It's still too Scooby Doo

kitty78 · 01/04/2009 00:09

Its one of my mother's most hated names also and she flinches every time I mention it - I'm not sure if that increases my fondness for it!

Oh bloody hell - forgot about Scooby Doo.

Still makes me think of Daphne from Neighbours....

ScottishThistle · 01/04/2009 00:13

Daphne, Deirdre, Mildred... NO, NO, NO!!!

iSOLOvechocolate · 01/04/2009 00:18

It reminds me of a rather plain woman I knew as a child who had very 70's style, thick horn rimmed glasses. Don't do it!!!!

cupofteaplease · 01/04/2009 08:18

I LOVE the name Daphne! I'm trying to convince dh that it should be a contender for this baby if it's a girl.

BonsoirAnna · 01/04/2009 08:18

Daphne is horrid.

JustKeepSwimmingInChocolate · 01/04/2009 08:22

Cannot imagine looking at a tiny baby and saying 'aww Daphne...'

nope from me!

Jojay · 01/04/2009 08:33

I think of 'Des n Daph' from Neighbours too

PinkMeringues · 01/04/2009 08:40

LOVE Daphne!

It is NOT the same as Deidre or Mildred, Daphne is far more elegant. IMO.

Daphne Du Maurier is another famous Daphne.

BabyBaby123 · 01/04/2009 09:45

it's terrible

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 01/04/2009 09:46

eek - I think it sounds pretty!

Disenchanted3 · 01/04/2009 09:47

Velma?
Scooby?

PheasantPlucker · 01/04/2009 09:55

I can't hear/read the name without thinking 'Daphne, you're bothering us!' from the film 'Some Like it Hot' with Marilyn Monroe and Jack Lemmon.

It does have a ring to it though. Agree it is more elegant than Deirdre or Mildred.

noddyholder · 01/04/2009 10:07

very sweet

Nancy66 · 01/04/2009 10:23

It's ok - a bit middle aged woman in a headscarf but miles better than Mildred which is simply hideous

pandavark · 01/04/2009 11:39

its lovely, i like daphne

MrsFogi · 01/04/2009 11:43

I love it and still wished I'd used it for dd2 - I had a thread on it a while back on here and was dissuaded.

lastboxoftampons · 01/04/2009 11:52

I think it's very pretty.

Thunderduck · 01/04/2009 11:57

As a Scot,it reminds me of Daphne from The Broons.
