I think it sounds quite fresh and sweet but am I just kidding myself?

ScottishMummy · 01/04/2009 20:27

Daphne from Frasier!

Botbot · 01/04/2009 20:33

Was there a Daphne in To The Manor Born? It was the first thing that popped into my head when I heard the name.

Closely followed by a very nice Greek girl I used to know (my age) with that name.

So - not sure really.

nevergoogledragonbutter · 01/04/2009 20:35

i quite like daphne.

random · 01/04/2009 20:35

Noooooo

babblington · 01/04/2009 20:50

my dd2 is called 'Delphi' and she gets called Daphne quite a lot.

digitalgirl · 01/04/2009 20:54

My MIL is called Daphne. So it just makes me think of passive-aggressive overweight bottle blondes.

nevergoogledragonbutter · 01/04/2009 20:55

i love the name delphi.

ScottishMummy · 01/04/2009 20:57

delphi is nice

Umlellala · 01/04/2009 21:12

Delphi! Lovely

kitty78 · 02/04/2009 22:09

Hmm, I think I may be officially dissuaded - was going to go for Daphne Primrose and its making me cringe now - oh the joy of hormones!!

How very DARE you all, I have a Daphne.

It is a lovely name.

Pic of my darling Daphne on my profile.

CornishKK · 02/04/2009 22:37

I like Daphne, it's on my list after Dorothy, Nancy and Kitty.

wickerman · 02/04/2009 22:42

Spanish mates of ours have a Dafne. She is bloody gorgeous and very cool.

kitty78 · 02/04/2009 22:42

Oh my goodness, Mme I think I may officially be in love with your Daphne - how adorable!

Dorothy, Nancy are on my list too - does that mean Daphne is okay - oh I'm confused, my head hurts with all this baby name business. I might just come up with one generic word to name baby and be done with it!

Xavielli · 02/04/2009 22:46

I don't like it.

I'm sure she would be beautiful and make the name wonderful however

MmeLindt · 02/04/2009 22:48

Just call her Baby and be done with it.

Actually, aside from our Daphne, I think the name is really cool, in a Martha, Mabel, Esme kind of way.

And if she is anything like our Daphne, she will be sleeping through the night at 12 weeks and potty trained at 4 months.

MrsMattie · 02/04/2009 23:09

No. That is all I will say. Just no.

mrsblanc · 02/04/2009 23:22

I LOVE IT!

kitty78 · 02/04/2009 23:37

Ooh sleeping through the night at 12 weeks and potty trained at 4 months - got any tips, I've a 35 year old at home who has yet to master those skills!

I am considering just putting Bean down on the Birth Certificate as naming a child of unknown sex is proving far too taxing for me this time round and taking up lots of time that could be better spent fantasising about Larry Lamb/Hugh Grant/all of Take That...

Daft Daphne

no don't like it

JustKeepSwimmingInChocolate · 03/04/2009 08:16

MmeLindt - LOVE your Daphne

I think Dorothy & Nancy are fine and lovely names.

PostAndGo · 03/04/2009 08:22

70s? Nah- too 50s

thell · 03/04/2009 11:35

Daphne is sweet, a soft name like Phoebe.
I do think of Scooby Doo, but wouldn't associate that with the baby if I met her.

FairLadyOfMuslinCloth · 03/04/2009 11:48

I like it
