Ok - this is dh favourite (mine is Cedric).
Is it at all useable? I just cant decide if it is too off the wall?

Yes I know all about Noam Chomsky, I realise it is a name in a completely different culture!

But to call a baby Noam, in he UK in 2009 ?

Pretentious does not even approach it

You might as well suggest Dostoevsky.

one of my favourite names of all time is nigerian Buki a girls name

no it is not culturally specific but it is beautiful - so I would use it
