Gabriel - whats the consensus?

I love this name - DH vetoed it for DS.....lots of raised eyebrows when I mentioned it at the time too! Anyway, heard someone calling a little Gabriel today and I have name .

would def like to use this if we ever have another ds.....and if i could convince DH!

One of my nephews is a Gabriel. It gets shortened to Gabe. I rather like it.

I adore it, but caveman Dh says gay and poncey. I ran it past some of my sixth form lads as a potential name and they peed themselves laughing and said "he'll be called gay boy, you can't do that" this was a group of a mix of rugby types and a few sensitive souls and boy scouts. I do teach in a very working class area, and they reckoned it was too posh also. (But I AM quite posh!)

I still love it though. Go for it on behalf of all those of us surrounded by unreconstructed males!

We have decided on Gabriel for ds due in 4 days!

Gabriel Henry - had a very mixed reaction from my family. Parents love it (Gabe for short) and my sisters HATED IT although now say they quite like it .

DP suggested it 5 years ago when i was pg with dd - i vetoed it and wouldn't even consider it. (at the young age of 21)

This time around we found out bump was blue and agreed on a name, then someone in the family called their baby it.

So i re-suggested his first choice. It went on the maybe pile and after a day of deliberation became a definate.

DP is a 'RUGBY' type so people are surprised he likes a 'wussy' name, and we live in a little rural/farming village so it's maybe easier to introduce such a different/controversial name around here??

Children will get picked on for any reason.

Lovely - I dated a guy called Gabe once
