I'm really sorry to do this again as have already run a couple of threads for advice over the months. Am now due this week and feeling fed up!
Can I have votes please on my final shortlist? Any neg reactions that you may have are fine too!
DH is keen on one of them in particular but I just seem to be so indecisive this time as prob our last child (have one DD and one DS already). Help!

Livia (prob Livia Scarlett)
Cecily (prob Cecily Kate)
Iris (pos Iris Genevieve)
Sylvie (pos Sylvie Scarlett Rose)
Elodie (prob Elodie Sofia)

Thanks a lot!

i am sorry I can't help because I really, really like all of them.

hmmmmmmmmmmm

fattiemumma · 17/02/2009 19:34

personaly a think Livia needs an O.

i'd have either Sylvie or cecily

fattiemumma · 17/02/2009 19:35

actually i'd have genevieve scarlett

cluelessnchaos · 17/02/2009 19:35

Livia is my favourite, especially with scarlett

cluelessnchaos · 17/02/2009 19:36

ooh ohh genevieve is gorgeous

ScorpiowithabigS · 17/02/2009 19:36

Cecily

nickytwotimes · 17/02/2009 19:36

I like Livia and Iris. Cecily is nice too

EachPeachPearMum · 17/02/2009 19:36

Cecily

We were going to have Cecily Margot, but it was a DS

Tidey · 17/02/2009 19:37

My favourites out of your list are Livia and Elodie, but they are all lovely names. I just think those two, with their middle name combinations, are the nicest.

nigglewiggle · 17/02/2009 19:39

iris - but like them all and I usually rofl at most suggestions!

BarbaraWoodlouse · 17/02/2009 19:41

They are all lovely names. It's quite a long short list still isn't it?

Just to confuse matters more, some of your "main" names go well together too (depending on your surname)...

As you are asking for votes/opinions:

Like Livia but I do feel it's an abbreviation and would personally give Olivia as the official name.

Cecily - very cute. Some might argue against it for that reason.

Iris - I'm biased, this is my hypothetical DD2's name (if I can persuade DP).

Sylvie - I like.

Elodie - my least favourite. I think it might become a bit dated.

Good luck (with chosing names and with the birth)

NorthernLurker · 17/02/2009 19:42

I've definately posted on one of your threads before but I'll take another swing at it!

Livia (prob Livia Scarlett) NO - Livia has v bad connotations and Scarlett is over-exposed imo

Cecily (prob Cecily Kate) This is very pretty but I wonder if she will find it hard to say??

Iris (pos Iris Genevieve) Love Iris, not so sure about Genevieve - awful lot to say for a middle name imo

Sylvie (pos Sylvie Scarlett Rose) Sylvie is lovely, Scarlett - you know my view and Rose - well it's a great middle name but agin it is rather over-exposed - and I say that as one who used it for dd1 - but that was 11 years ago when NOBODY was using it

Elodie (prob Elodie Sofia) No - just no.

I think

Iris Kate

Sylvie Catherine

Rosalind

Viola

or Emma would be my suggestions.

Good luck!

BarbaraWoodlouse · 17/02/2009 19:48

NL, why does Livia have bad connotations?[being dense emoticon]

NorthernLurker · 17/02/2009 19:54

here Whilst you can argue about the historical truth the fact remains that the Livia most often known to the general public is the character from I Claudius and that's not good!

CuppaTeaJanice · 17/02/2009 19:54

My vote goes to Elodie. I've never heard it before, but can imagine it in a French accent.

BarbaraWoodlouse · 17/02/2009 20:00

NL, thanks. I should probably know that being a literature graduate. But I always get I, Claudius muddled in my head with Up Pompei and have never seen either

2pt4kids · 17/02/2009 20:03

Like Olivia (not without the O though)
Iris and Cecily are both lovely too.

Think Cecily would be my favourite if I had to pick one.

justneedsomesleep · 17/02/2009 20:10

Olivia or Cecily but leaning more to Cecily...lovely names

Lots of luck!

shootfromthehip · 17/02/2009 20:13

Elodie is a stunning name. I've loved all the Elodies I've known (all in France). That one gets my vote.

NorthernLurker · 17/02/2009 20:14

Barbara _ I've never seen I Claudius either - though I did have a tape recording of it - but despite that - it is the first thing that pops into my head when 'Livia' is mentioned - hence my dislike!

MmeLindt · 17/02/2009 20:17

I like Olivia Scarlett, not sure of Livia.

Cecily Kate is lovely

suwoo · 17/02/2009 20:20

My least favourite is Livia- predictably just because of the Olivia confusion. I love all the others. My favourite for this one was Cecily, but DH says its poncey and up its own arse . My other favourites are
Esther
Esme
Camille
Celeste
Xanthe

All of which have been declared as too pretentious by DH .

jomole · 17/02/2009 20:29

My niece who was born in November is called Elodie and I think it is lovely . I had never heard the name before.

jeanjeannie · 17/02/2009 20:43

Iris is my fave ...but biased as DD1 is Iris Katharine

Also adore Cecily

loobylu3 · 17/02/2009 22:07

Thx a lot all!

Barbara Woodlouse- it is far to long for a shortlist I agree. I seem to be attached to all the names for different reasons (except perhaps one)

Northern Lurker- thx for your suggestions. they are all nice (I esp like Viola but it has already been turned down by DH).

suwoo- I don't think Cecily is poncey and like all of your names. men- honestly!
