I'm really sorry to do this again as have already run a couple of threads for advice over the months. Am now due this week and feeling fed up!
Can I have votes please on my final shortlist? Any neg reactions that you may have are fine too!
DH is keen on one of them in particular but I just seem to be so indecisive this time as prob our last child (have one DD and one DS already). Help!

Livia (prob Livia Scarlett)
Cecily (prob Cecily Kate)
Iris (pos Iris Genevieve)
Sylvie (pos Sylvie Scarlett Rose)
Elodie (prob Elodie Sofia)

Thanks a lot!

Livia or Sylvie.

So loobylu, are you going to tell us which one is your DH's favourite?

loobylu3 · 17/02/2009 22:26

DH likes Livia which I like too. I just feel that it could get really annoying having to constantly explain that no she is not Olivia and that Livia is not just a made up name because we wanted to be 'different'!

I can't see this happening to the same extent with the other names and I don't want to 'let them go' if that makes any sense at all.

NL- I think we will have to wait until she appears and make a final decision. Hopefully it will all become clear then! Thx for the vote of confidence anyway!

Get I Claudius on dvd and you'll run screaming from Livia!

nappyaddict · 18/02/2009 09:12

Any but Livia.

maddylou · 18/02/2009 09:25

I only really like Elodie and Kate

audley · 18/02/2009 09:28

I love Cecily but it means blind, so I wouldn't use sadly, same with claudia which I also like

loobylu3 · 18/02/2009 11:53

Yes, the meaning is not great, although it is also related to Cecilia (St Cecilia- patron st of music).
I really like the name (and Claudia too) so I don't think it will put me off personally.

Lavinia? Shortened to Livia?

sleepyhead3 · 18/02/2009 18:06

I've seen your thread before I think.

My favourite is Cecily. Sylvie and Iris also lovely.

Nicki10 · 18/02/2009 19:51

I love Cecily and I think that Iris is pretty too. I also like Sylvie but it is becoming quite popular around here.

I'm afraid Livia just makes me think of someone saying Olivia but with an Essex accent!.

jellybeans · 18/02/2009 21:26

Elodie Sofia is lovely.

loobylu3 · 18/02/2009 21:29

Do you mind if I ask whereabouts you live Nicki10? I don't know any Sylvies around here. I'm not looking for anything really rare but would prefer not to choose a name that is going to shoot up in popularity massively!

Cecily Kate

WundaWuman · 18/02/2009 23:06

Cecily or Iris

missymoo2411 · 18/02/2009 23:16

i love cecily i think i was on your other thread and put felicity aswell as cecily so cecily or livia and u have to live with it noone else so u go for your fav and fprget everyone else

CatchaStar · 18/02/2009 23:19

Sorry, think they're all bad names. Don't like any of them. I do however think that Scarlett Olivia Rose sounds lovely. Also like Kate. But none of the first names.

goodasgold · 18/02/2009 23:23

All the names are lovely, go for the one you like best. Our daughters will make their own names lovely, have faith in your daughter to make her name beautiful. One of my friends gave her daughter a name that I didn't like, but now I know the girl it belongs to it is one of my favourite names.

Best wishes.

choosyfloosy · 18/02/2009 23:26

Livia has grown on me during the thread - this quite often happens - tbh as soon as people know your child the name will no longer be an issue.

My personal favourite of your list is Cecily - so beautiful - I think it is having an upsurge but that's hard to avoid - I remember it with affection from the novel The Woolpack, if anyone else did that at school

Tinker · 18/02/2009 23:27

I like all your choices really. Iris is my least favourite but depends where you live whether you can get away with it. Livia will get misheard for Olivia/Lydia. Love Sylvie and Elodie but they are cropping up a lot on mn so assume quite zeitgeisty names.

Tinker · 18/02/2009 23:29

Am rethinking Elodie because it has to be pronounced correctly.

Timeisablindguide · 18/02/2009 23:30

I know an Olivia Scarlett and her sister is called something totally ridiculous so I can't help associating the two sets of names when I see that combo. I don't like Scarlett with Rose, seems a bit contrived BUT Elodie is lovely and Sylvie too.
There are a lot of floral names around at the moment, esp the more "old fashioned" ones like Iris,so maybe avoid them if you want something a bit different.
Elodie Catherine maybe?

Tinker · 18/02/2009 23:32

Don't like Scarlett at all (just spotted your middle names)

daisy5 · 19/02/2009 08:03

Love Livia (I cannot see that anyone would think of an ancient movie or at least associate it with your beautiful daughter). I like that it doesn't have an O, although I guess many people will assume it is short for Olivia and write that initially?

Love Genevieve - although you only have it as a second name. Striking, beautiful and uncommon at the moment.

Love Sylvie - has a wonderful ring to it.

Not so crazy about the others. Elodie makes me think of Melody which all sounds a bit chavvy! Sorry.

Iris, too short a name. Hard to have fun with, either with nicknames or pronunciation. It just sounds a bit hard and flat.
