DD3 needs a name. Have we used up all the good ones on DD1 and 2?!

DD3 will arrival this summer. DH and I racked our brains for a good name, but so far - zip.

DD1 is Mollie Ava
DD2 is Liberty Violet

Our surname is long and is shared with older Brit actor called Pete P..... he's currently doing something thespy at the Old/New Vic (can't remember which one).

I love Cecily (Cece), Beatrice (Bea) and Ophelia (Felie or Fifi). And as you can see have an annoying need to shorten names!

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Well i'm currently pregnant with dc3 and if its a girl it will be beatrice may. Beatrice because i love it and may because its my mother and grandmother's middle name.

So my vote is for beatrice! Actually Beatrice Cece would be nice.

Thank you ladies.

I LOVE Tilly, but not sure I could get away with a Mollie, Libby and Tilly combo!!!

Hattie is pretty. And so is Maddy.

And I hadn't considered Sylvie. That's another one for the list.

I think Beatrice as it doesnt end in the 'ie' sound.
It does sound a bit twee to have Mollie, Libbie, Cece/Fifi imo

eandh · 02/02/2009 18:05

I loved Tilly but dh wasnt keen on it but he picked Hattie!

Both my dd's have ie ending names (Ellie and Hattie and we didnt even realise for 3 weeks

PlumBumMum · 02/02/2009 18:10

I go with 2pt4 as my dh pointed to me you don't want to sound like Sally webster shouting up the stairs Rosie and Sophie
(did put me off a little)

Although we do have 2 dd ending with e sound

madwomanintheattic · 02/02/2009 18:13

i've got 3 ending with 'a' sound lol (although one spelt 'er' which i think makes a difference

Loving cece though x

If you want abbreviations, then

Miranda - Mimi
Belinda - Bella
Arabella - Bella
Susannah - Susie
Josephine - Josie

If your surname is what I think it is, then Ophelia P~ may be a bit of a mouthful, perhaps?

janeite · 02/02/2009 19:08

Personally I'd try and avoid having three all ending with an "ee" sound. The way our dds have chosen to shorten their names means we have two with "ee" endings (although dd2's given name isn't an "ee" ending) and it probably sounds a bit twee.

I like the sound of a shorter name with Mollie and Liberty - eg: Eve, May, Grace, Pearl.

I love the name Beatrice but maybe too many "Bs" when put with Liberty.

I'm liking the suggestion of Flora too but think Fleur would be lovely as well.
