What do you all think of the name JOEL?

Expecting DS2 in May and am just not sure about a name. I really like Joel, though. I've only ever met one - very cool and gorgeous - and I think it's got groove to it! What do you think?

Other possibilities are:
Francis
Henry
Hamish
Lucas

(I also quite like Noel but DH says no way as everyone would pronouce it as in the Christmas 'noWell'. Fair enough)

I really like it. I like your choices actually.

AccidentalMum · 20/01/2009 14:14

Love Joel and Hamish (if you are Scottish). Joel is top of our list for aboy.

Iklboo · 20/01/2009 14:16

I love Joel
Don't agree with your DH I'm afraid - no-one says 'noWell' Edmods

wotulookinat · 20/01/2009 14:21

I like Joel, after Billy Joel.
Francis - no no no.
Henry - too popular at the moment
Hamish - nice if you're Scottish
Lucas - great name, after George Lucas

mrsseanbean · 20/01/2009 14:22

I like Joel.

moondog · 20/01/2009 14:22

It's nice.
I know a good lad called Joel.

dizzydixies · 20/01/2009 14:24

Hamish nothing can compare to Hamish

Joel ok but hamish is, well its HAMISH

fabulous name imo

SpeccieSeccie · 20/01/2009 14:31

DH is Scottish so Hamish wouldn't be too 'trying to be tartan'!

DH has conceded that a few people have heard of Noel Gallagher and even those that haven't have probably heard of Noel Edmonds. Nonetheless, I think Noel is not as good as Joel.

anythingbutpink · 20/01/2009 16:39

my son is Joel. We love it - but some people find it difficult to say - sometimes me and it comes out all twisted, sort of 'Jo - oil' by mistake. We have shortened it to Moley now tho.

moonincancer · 20/01/2009 17:19

love it!

SpeccieSeccie · 20/01/2009 20:17

Thanks everyone. No-one with a bad word to say about a name - is this a MN first? I think I'm loving Joel even more now.

(atbp - Joel to Mole to Moley? I can see how that would work - and be very adorable)

Joel is a great name - my favourite BIL is a Joel, he was named after a West Indian cricketer so exceptionally cool.
