Botbot · 16/01/2009 20:28

Well I say it Bottbott, but I'm quite liking Bobo. Mmm, continental!

Sycamoretree · 16/01/2009 20:40

Well, you can have that one for free Bobo

Pinkchampagne · 16/01/2009 20:44

Don't like either name really, sorry.

lalalonglegs · 16/01/2009 20:50

Too American - apologies if you are American

bronze · 16/01/2009 21:01

Those who think they rhyme. Are they brooke and fook or bruck and fuck if the Queen was saying it. Just interested if you all say the same?

Hulababy · 16/01/2009 21:13

Not keen on either.

Am in Yorkshire. Duck and book rhyme here. So do but and put.

Sycamoretree · 16/01/2009 22:26

to me I would rhyme the way you have written fuck, "fook" like spook.

The queen would rhyme brooke with book, but not with duck and fuck, the latter she would pronounce the U sound closer to an A sound.

EldonAve · 16/01/2009 22:27

not keen on Brooke - makes me think of Brooke Hogan

bronze · 17/01/2009 08:30

Sorry when I said about the Queen I knew how she would say it. I speak the Queens English doncha know
It was more if I said how do you say it some people if they don't say them differently wouldn't be able to see/hear the differences I was asking about

choosyfloosy · 17/01/2009 08:35

Reece makes me think of Reece Shearsmith which is a good thing . Just a variant of Rhys isn't it? I think it's fine.

I'd agree with the poster who thought Brooke was a bit 'Hollywood'. I don't like it very much - I know a lovely Brooke but tbh I wish she was called something else! Just don't like the hardness of the sound. Having said that, it avoids cutesiness which is a good thing too.

Sycamoretree · 17/01/2009 08:41

Sorry Bronze, didn't mean to give you a lesson in elocution

I'm trying to answer your question but I think I'm still not completely sure what it is. Oh well, maybe the moment has passed !

MadameCastafiore · 17/01/2009 08:44

They are chavvy.

NotADragonOfSoup · 17/01/2009 08:49

Rhys is nice, Reece is cr*p.

Brooke... not my choice but DD has a friend called that and it doesn't jar.

JaneLumley · 17/01/2009 08:49

Not keen either. Brooke makes me think of Broioke Shields. Rhys is nice, though.

bronze · 17/01/2009 09:12

S'alright ST I knew you weren't it's just so hard writing about pronunciation.

foxytocin · 17/01/2009 09:14

Brooke / Reece - for normal people who think there is something special about them.

wb · 17/01/2009 09:29

Well, just to be different, I quite like Brooke. Maybe it does sound a little bit American (Brooke Shields) but that wouldn't bother me.

I don't particularly like Reece (however you spell it) but that's just me.

catweazle · 17/01/2009 09:44

pronunciation here

nappyaddict · 17/01/2009 18:53

I like Brooke. Not keen on Reece/Rhys cos there are quite a few around here.

RachieB · 20/01/2009 23:29

pmsl @ Brooke sounding same as f@ck etc

its a long oo sound in the middle

same as book ( which i do not pronounce as "buck" ?!)

I actually love the name Brooke ,not so keen on Reece / Rhys

LaDiDaDi · 20/01/2009 23:54

I don't like either tbh.

Kirsty86 · 09/09/2009 00:01

I like the name Brooke and would pronounce it 'Bruck'.
I must admit this conversation has somewhat put me off it, but I couldn't think of a middle name I liked with it, so I guess that's concluded that!

BerylCole · 09/09/2009 05:15

Rhys better than Reece. Brooke isnt a nice name, sorry.

Hollyoaks · 09/09/2009 07:13

I like both, have a family member called Brooke and it has never been even remotely linked to rhyming with fuck. Though we dont pronounce it like that.

Go with whatever names you like and never ask for others opinion because you will never please everyone.
